Lorca is my favourite character because he's a tool. Nice to see a tool on Star Trek that isn't just a fusspot or Neelix.

Looks like many of the bets about Lt Tyler were correct, eh? Lot of character arc already for a fake person. Gutted about the Doc, bit dubious about in regards to the 'Bury Your Gays' trope  The other half was doomed from the second he injected himself with spacemagic of course, but I feel that's a bit different. Maybe just because this was my favourite couple in SF for a long while and one of the things that made the relatively dark world of Discovery still part of the Utopian tradition of Star Trek.

This Mirror World is Totally Fun. Captain Killy? Doesn't need a goatee

Sorry, Theblazeuk, I had to remove the TV Tropes link because the spoiler tags don't work properly with embedded links. (I could have simply spoilered the text around the link, but the link itself is a bit of a spoiler...)

And you can add The Mighty One to that 99p list.

And Rico Dredd: The Third Law, too!

A good collection of contributors there...! I always look forward to this time of the year: checking the board every morning for the new entries!

Don't think I'll be contributing myself this year, though: time is limited! (Unless, of course, I come up with one of those "can't NOT do it" ideas!)

Not convinced by this one.

When I saw that cover pop up on Facebook it reminded me that I've always suspected Dave D'Antiquis was a play on words but I've never been able to work out what it might be.

I always figured it was meant to sound like "Day of the Anti-Christ."

Getting close now!
I've just booked the Friday & Monday off work for that mini-holiday feeling.

Any other forumites from ROI making it over to this?
Tordelback? Zenith 666? Joe Soap? David?

I know Gavin is coming, but he'd go to the opening of a brown paper bag with 'Zarjaz' written on it.

Leonia and I will be attending!

Back in 2015 I recoloured Johnny Alpha on that cover to more closely match the real thing... I also recoloured Wulf's beard!

Hmm... Just spotted this thread!

The error (or "continuity stinker" -- thanks, A. Cow!) was the result of a minor screw-up by me and minor mix-up in the Nerve Centre: I wrote "The Grindstone Cowboys" many months before I started working on "Reclamation" and, to be frank, I'd forgotten that I'd already shown Joyce and Giant working together (Giant wasn't in my original plan for that scene in "The Grindstone Cowboys": I added him later because I wanted to foreshadow his appearance in "Reclamation").

I spotted the mistake shortly after I delivered "Reclamation" and informed The Mighty One, then sent him the corrected version. Unfortunately, the revised version of the script was mislaid or something and the incorrect one was used instead.

The good news is that we've managed to patch over the mistake by tweaking the dialogue in the collected edition (Every Empire Falls, due to be published in early February), and it should be absolutely seamless and unnoticeable to new readers (or established readers who are a tad less pedantic observant) as long as those who DO know it's there don't go "helpfully" pointing it out to everyone...

Not sure how interested anyone here might be in this, but today my first Ace Crikey ebook is available for free on Amazon!

Here are the relevant links:

(Even if you don't intend to ever read it, folks, please download your free copy anyway: More downloads will give it a higher rating, which will make it a little more visible for other potential readers!)

Thanks for the support everyone, unfortunately other work delayed my questionnaire making a bit!  It's fairly short and none of the wordy questions are compulsory so hopefully it shouldn't put anyone out too much, although I would not be opposed to anyone writing as much as they like!

Fingers crossed this works okay, just let me know if there's any problems - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSee7AyBzdmqfIXZ_8efM_-bZ4UMqjYKeltJaCAvoQCGSoyZng/viewform

Done...  but the first question is ambiguous! "How old were you when you began reading?" Do you mean reading 2000AD, or reading in general? I assumed the latter. (If it's the former, then the answer is 2, and the year I started reading was 1968.)

For those interested in the Mega-City 5000, might I humbly suggest you check out the e-novella Judge Dredd Year One: The Cold Light of Day. It's set a couple of decades earlier, back in the days before the race was outlawedl!
