Books & Comics / Re: Before Miracleman

This is just plain hilarious. Oh I'm sure from some people will get very upset and there'll be stamping of feet and gnashing of teeth.

But its like the greatest bit of comic trolling there has ever been. Its as if Marvel big wigs sat there, scratching themselves, stirring at there various internet connected devices, not looking at each other bored as once again they'd started to tramp on DCs sales after a worrying couple of year. They sat there feeling empty, with nothing left to achieve until one of them wiped the food from their chin and said

"Well we could try to offend the comics Internet even more than DC did with Before Watchmen."

They all laughed sadly, a hollow laugh not truly believing it as possible...then as another plucked his pants out his bum cheeks and said

"Actually come to think of it I've had an idea..."

I'm just glad that not so tunneled visioned as to think that Alan Moore is "their medium's only genius" so don't need to take it all that seriously.

Bloomin' heck I've had a right old day at work and now this. I'd normally resist but the extra features might be interesting?... what to do, what to do...

There was a great article posted inthese parts this Saturday about Viz these days. Alas as I'm on my phone can't track it down too easily as I very lazy tomake the effort. Shouldn't be too hard to find though.

I'm really intrigued to see what else is in that wonderfully tatty book. I do spy some sort of strip work there?

I'm afraid the YOUNG MAN is takin' a pass at this stage. Too much going on in and around that time. Which I'm kinda kickin' myself for as there's some fantastic people going ... basically I've been rubbish, not got myself organised and if I'm honest also thought it was in November!

So looking like Thought Bubble will have to do for me this year. Maybe I'll get my ass in gear for next year?

So I saw the picture on the box of the DVD in the Prog this week

and thought - hold on I didn't realise Cloak and Dagger were in this... then it dawned on me.

Silly me, but it does look like them doesn't it!

Film & TV / Re: Doctor Who - Season 8

Finally got around to this one (which says a lot itself I guess) and pretty much loved it. Okay it stretched credibility at times but was entertaining enough to let that just float past. Clara wasn't anywhere near as annoying as she was last series and as Greg said I had dread fears of some tears of a Dalek saving the day but in the end far from it.

Matt Smith was a superb Doctor served by tosh often, could Pete Capaldi be a superb Doctor served with delights... could be... but that trailer doesn't fill me with hope. We'll see how we go.

Where were we? Where are we now...Arh in much the same position. We're in one of those cruise patterns when the Prog has a solid set of stories and week on week there's not much to say. Its all pretty good. Not astonishing but pretty good. A few ebbs and flows. Aquila is on the rise as Jaegir is on a dip. Dredd kicked in again enjoyed this a lot and Black Shuck looked superb and is really coming together well.

Kurt Vonnegut is back in Brass Sun and so this great episode of the series gets my nod for Thrill of the Week.

You still have Season 3 to watch for the first time.
How I envy you.

Yeah I'm quite excited about it. My guess is and this is just speculation so please don't confirm or deny anything - we're in for a clash between Omar and Stringer, depending on where he's at Barksdale might get in the mix too.

Finished The Wire Season 2 and it is as good as people say. Absolutely loving the series. Glad they've sorted the whole 'Getting the band back together' thing boxed off as that was just about the only downside to this season. Brilliant stuff, even if the cop element is increasingly a sideshow.

That was a surprise, who knew there were enough nerds in Sheffield to fill The Arena. Is Dirk Benedict such a draw that people traveled far and wind to see him? Alas it would defo seem not so for Sylvester McCoy who I saw looking slightly dejected at his table. About £15 to get him to scribble his name on a bit of paper (glossy or otherwise) was pushing it a little too far.

Anyway it was a pleasant enough way to spend a few hours today. An astonishing array of shiny and cute tat which a few years ago would have turned my head with delight. Lots of comics to be had, but I was strong - almost regret not getting the whole of Ex-machina for £60 but I think I'll stick with the new trade collections and all of toxic for £40 would that have been a good deal?

Had nice chat wags with Paul Grist (who did me a lovely Mudman sketch) and Al Ewing who told me of Dredd to come and  Zombo for the future (maybe next year). Alas Dave Taylor was a no show... or at least I didn't see him.

If this comes back next year I'll defo take the little un, place was full of um having what looked like a lovely time.

Anyone going tomorrow? I'm popping along mainly to pester the hell out of Paul Grist to get more Mudman out.

If anyone is playing out (doubt it but no harm asking huh!) just post here if you fancy a chat?

I don't do action figures but that is so crazy good I might make an exception, especially around the £20 mark.

Bloody lovely.
