I've never been there, but its always sad to lose a 'proper' comic shop. and my god, Rufus, that drawing's stunning, but it does look much like McMahon;s later stuff, doesn't it? No bad thing though... :)

   Thanks Jock!
Mech,
Paul sold Micky's Art in the old shop in Monmouth St.(and later Neal Street), so I did it to look a bit Micktastic, as a reference to that.
Gotta admit it was done in a blind rush to meet an inclusion deadline!
And yes, a proper comic shop, with people you can chat too.

people you can chat to? I remember that. thought it was dead. although, if this thread is anything to go by, its touch and go.

its a lovely piece Rufus. and you can introduce it to people by saying 'this is not the greatest art in the world (no) this is just a tribute!

if you wanted... :)

wow, thats a sad thing.
i stumbled upon it many years ago whilst living in london. mid 80s great shop in some ways invoking the old denmark street style of FP,but slightly better decor, its was red i think when i first entered.

orignal art work on walls, decent layout of comics, knowledgeable staff whom would help upon request, and talk with the same passion as you had about characters.i do believe i bought my first copy of either the watchmen or camelot 3000 in there.

i wish the owner all the best for the future.

I AM VERY BUSY!
PJ Maybe and I use the same dictionary, live with it.

NO 2000ad no life!

Shite! I'm coming to London at the end of the month and was gonna ask for recommendations.
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

Satanist...
Gosh Comics is great (not much 2000AD stock though)

Mighty world of Comicana- friendly, lots of back issues...

And Planet...Tesco of the Comic Kingdom

Dan Kelly

There's also Mega-City comics in Camden - my local.

;-)

Satanist

Cheers for those.

I never like Mega City Comics (nice name) after they refused to stock our fanzine (Class of 79) years ago...
On the grounds 'nobody likes 2000AD anymore'.
It suddenly became my ex-local cmic shop.

Dan Kelly

They seem to be doing pretty good at stocking 2000ad stuff recently.

They even have a few small press things as well...

...However as it's between work and the shops, it'd take a lot to stop me going there for my weekly fix ;-)
