i have some interesting/entertaining photos, but fear that i really shouldn't post them... those that were on them will know why
thinky
Did anybody actually manage to get a picture of the Rebellion employee dressed as Venus Bluegenes? I somehow managed to go the whole day without seeing her...
No, sorry, I didn't, but am somehow wishing now that I had!
What exactly was she there for?
To show how a GI knocks back drinks?
Somebody must have taken a snap?
Did she look any good, or (as I suspect) did she look like a random woman painted blue?
Actually she looked quite good, but she was obviously an early GI, as shee needed glasses and obviously didn't have the full immunity to toxins like cigarette smoke or alcohol.
Bolt-01
Bah. When I went, we had to make do with Jamie Boardman shouting "Attention Citizens" at intervals...
And the blue colouration didn't extend all the way down to the fetching pink knickers...
Which is just as well, as it'd be a horrible colour clash.
No photos? Sounds like a pity ;)
That page of Devlin? That's mine that is.
Hey TwoTonneTonyXTubbs, page is great! Hope you had a great day. Again, sorry for the poking!!!
Gay.
the bloke pitching, that's me that is
you can see Matt thinking 'oh my God'
hurrah, max made Tharg laugh... or was is hide his head in horror?
i can't tell for sure as i was looking into space as i made my mental pitch, but i definately heard laughter from his direction
From what I've heard of this pitch it was a definite 'hide me' moment.
Max should be ashamed of himself :)
Bolt-01 who missed it cause he was stuck in the bar with Glenn Fabry.
i say nothing actually dirty. i left it up to all of your's imaginations. Implied dirtyness, it's the way to go.
Max entertained Mary and myself with the "Banana (Monkey?) Love" story in the curry house after Shedcon.
Little did we know when Max got up in the last moments of Pitchfest and took the mic it was going to be his pitch until he uttered the words (and I paraphrase here) 'open on a close-up of a bruised banana..'
Max, you should really consider scripting it, seriously, it'll be good exercise and judging by Frazer's reaction he may appreciate a copy ;)
Ah, those pictures are priceless.
I don't need to know the details of this story though.
oh, you'll see them when the video goes online. :D mwahaha!
Bit empty in the pitch-fest room!
Was there a fire alarm going off at the time? LOL
Sorry, just a joke.
Hope no-one minds me saying this, but these pitch-fest photos are unintentionally hilarious.
Matt Smith:
"And the winner of pitch-fest is James Smith. Yes, he won with an idea called 'how to empty a room in 20 seconds'."
LOL
Hmm....
The crowd was on the other side of the room... hopefully you will see this when I sort my photos
They had also scheduled Brendan McCarthy in the sketch/signing room at the same time. Although I didn't see any sketches from him...
Dan
I got THE McCArthy sketch for Mr Umpty. Will scan tonight.
Dredd....mmmmmm ...McCarthyism.....
Rufus
i have a pic of the trooper but knowhere to host it, email me if you want it dudes
Do you like Cats?
The pitchfest room did feel a bit empty, probably being the least well attended of the ecents with only 20-30 people (which looks very small in that large hall), but previous years haven't drawn all that many more people. I get the feeling numbers were down all round.
From the pitchfests and the scriptdroids group I get the feeling taht a lot of people who got interrested in trying to get into 2000AD when Andy Diggle opened the gates (by printing teh guidelines, etc) have since given up and off.
Since the winter special is printing the guidelines again I'm guessing we might see a new batch of people taking an interest, and the cycle beginning again...
From the look of the panel - no wonder it was looking empty: the panel seems to be mainly made up of the past pitchers...
My excuse for not attending the pitchfest is...
I was having a pint with two message boarders I'd not met before, and we were talking about Lego, science fiction, and Edwardian costume dramas.
That beer tasted sweet, too. I just got too comfortable there to move. Ah well.
Usher: Was one of them Pyroxian?
Bolt-01
Art, I love cats. Mine is called Charles E Hardwidge. Namd after the patron saint of cod-zen philosophy. :)
Bolt: yeah. However did you guess?
But it was me that brought up the subject of Lego.
HoU.
i think it would be better as an 'every 2/3 years but a huge big event thing' than every year , people are more likely to make the effort if its only every other year
i am still amazed tooth are not there selling mugs, t-shirts, beanie hats etc.
i talked to this guy, he is an amateur writer, told him to get on the board and network his way into small press
i am still amazed tooth are not there selling mugs, t-shirts, beanie hats etc.
WTF?
They were last year.
The bloke who is there every year with a table full of graphic novels was selling loads of t-shirts and models ... bloke in front of me bought forty-five quids' worth
There are people (well 'person') selling GNs/Beanies etc, though I think they do need to get a bit more organised with this, and ensure that the full range of 2000AD merchandise is available.
Mongoose and Black Flame's stuff - last year, you could get both (I think), this year, not. It was nice to get the Extreme a few days early though!
It was also a shame there was no "coming up" talk - and no update on the Rogue Trooper game either.
The McCarthy interview was interesting - didnt look at all like I expected! It was also great to see the original pages of the first Dredd from prog 2!
i think he really needs less complex with only 1 or 2 ideas in them, not 5 or 6. That way it'd be easier for him to get them across, not muddle them up, and most importantly they'd fit into a future shock.
He pitched last year as well.
Not the best speaker...
Bolt-01
Subtle, and the point, or -
"My God! It's a modern James Bond!"
Isn't this the guy who plays the clerk in Malcolm in the Middle?
The Lon Chaney of the message board returns...
That's superb...
- Steve
Rufus,
Please post the scan soon, I'm wettin meself with anticipation to get a look at the McCarthy Dredd!!!
Just put mine up
Link: clicky
Really enjoyed looking thru your photos of Japan.
Want to go now.
this pic isn't wyatt natsan and rob. there is only one goth in that line up
By the use of sophisticated image processing technology*, I can confirm that there
are three people in this tiny wee photo.
Their identities as yet remain a mystery.
*Paint Shop Pro 7
the reality doesnt quite live up to the image in my mind when i read that..
I do remember flicking the Vs at someone who was tacking apicture of me from that angle.
>I do remember flicking the Vs at someone who was tacking apicture of me from that angle.
Surely that was Tharg?
Not this time. And not actually an owner of the comic either.
It's Art on the left,me on the right. We were hanging around waiting for Rob to come back from the loo but I can't remember if he'd actually returned or not by the time the pic was taken.
look at the larger version, Rob's skiny, the middle guy isn't
I've gone back to the original... I now think it's Pyroxian unless someone knows any different
looks like Pyroxian to me. i was thinking it could be at the smaller scale but wasn't sure
Any photos of JEB?
Ive got one from archives(:
Link: You Mappit Timson!
Seriously I watched this "World Police" the other night and I thought;
"The guy even has Matts attitude."
And seems no-one has any old skool photies Ill pop this one up.
:)
Link: Uncanny.
Bah- I can't see either of them. No doubt I look like some kind of Greek God and we'll leave it at that...
Only if you're talking about Pan or Bacchus, maybe. ;)
Im sorry Matt but seems you were having flame wars all over the shop, this piccy just, well .. I put the whole page up.
Link: Canada is nicer.
Bacchus:
Timson:
F.A.B. Virge.
Flame wars? Plural? There was only one- and it's hardly a war when your enemy is too feeble to fight back properly. I slapped a nuisance around- for fun- and enjoyed myself for a good fifteen to twenty minutes while I did it. And a welcome distraction from an extremely tedious job it was too!
I'll take the Bacchus comment on the chin- but only because Virgo has the stupidest fucking shoes I've ever seen...
;)
My shoes might be stupid, but I chose them for their looks, not their brains...
[[INSERT PUN RELATING TO "SPATS"]]
"My, what enormous spats you have..."
Soooo... dod anybody actually take any photos at this thing?
I got this here film from The Longer Men Shorts camera.
Link: http://www.incident.net/works/miseanu/nues.html
That's Pyroxian in the middle.
i do have a Dreddcon picture of Timson, but it involves a sleeping Molcher... should i post it after i promised not to take any sleeping LMS pics?
thinky
How do you know I didn't take any of you while *you* were sleeping?
I say sleeping, but it sounded like you were mating with a hippo...
;)
"I say sleeping, but it sounded like you were mating with a hippo..."
He must be related to Dudley then...
thinky - post the picture already!
Geyahead diude.
as requested...
i'll put some more up soon once i've photoshopped the incriminating evidence away
thinky
i only posted the pic because Mr Molcher is in a good old mood re his removal from the job from hell... of course, this will all change when he remembers he owes me ?40...
thinky
hehehhehe
Christ!
Where's that finger going!!!!
trying to load up a couple more images with no success...
they can be found
here and
here.
what out for Byron's brilliant finger of magic (crap photo-trickery added to protect the innocent)
thinky
You know what- I could've sworn that Mr Brunt was there. Did I partake of a little too much 'lens flare'...?
You know what- I could've sworn that Mr Brunt was there. Did I partake of a little too much 'lens flare'...?
i know Bart & Mrs Bart turned up later, but when i took the pics, there were Art, Dudley, PeteMask, LMS, Byron, Alan and Simon in the room also
thinky
oh, and Dan obviously (sorry Dan)
thinky
S'no problem.
Trying to remember whether DXB was there that night, think he did turn up at one point...
Moving house at the moment is certainly not helping my poor-at-the-best-of-times cognitative abilities ;-)
Dan
Tsk! Always got to lower the tone, haven't you, Wilson...
;)
Be fair, though. I could've gone lower. The first version I did had you with a brown finger and a face like a toddler eating chocolate. ;)
As grim as that sounds, it would definately have made me laugh...
You're a sicker man than I, Eyebrows. I respect that. ;)
arent there ALWAYS pics of him asleep at EVERY convention?
oh yes can i buy sone of that stuff thats has the glow of a thousand suns? looks like shit hot stuff :P
Pah - that's nothing:
Well its good to see you fellas again a few monthes down the line. having good clean fun.
I dont know if anyones into photometry but a little poltergiest has joined you. He/she is on the wall above/between Dan and then Matt.
:)
Bless.
