Another old comic strip question

I remember years ago buying this book

It was cheap out of something like Woolworths or whatever.  Inside were three strips with really nice artwork of a retro style, in some ways like Trigan Empire or elements of Dan Dare.  The strip was Jason January-Space Cadet.  The stories were a bit kitsch but I remember looking on them fondly.  Basically like an Air Training Corps in space (or military school for our US residents).

Information on this seems rather sketchy, no pun intended, and I've tried to find out more.  Even the ever useful Wikipedia doesn't seem to have any real information.

Was it first printed in a comic/magazine like Trigan Empire or Dan Dare, or was it just an experimental thing.
When the truth offends, we lie and lie until we can no longer remember it is even there, but it is still there. Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later, that debt is paid. That is how an RBMK reactor core explodes. Lies. - Valery Legasov
