If you make it as far as a dinner date in the real world, I'd avoid Sensitive Klegg's opening gambit of "I never eat people". No lady wants to have that possibility ruled out before the dessert menu has arrived as consolation.

Although if that eventuality should arise, always follow Zombo's lead and ask first.

Yeah, I got that email too. Balls...  :(

Some wee scrote tried to break into my home a couple of weeks ago. I heard a loud bang as they forced the living room window open and saw the lamp come on. I came thundering into the now empty living room to find my window fucked and a dirty smackrat scuttling across the road to a waiting (stolen, as it turns out) car.

Nothing was taken and nobody was hurt, but it's been massively inconvenient. I had to spend all day Sunday waiting for the police to come and take a statement. They turned up the following Friday. Then I had to take yesterday morning off work for a couple of workmen to come and replace the hinges/runners on the window. They turned up at twenty past one. For an already quite broad "AM" appointment. Seriously - can nobody turn up when they say they will any more?

Seems the little shits had knocked the car off earlier that evening and had been cruising around the area, looking for opportunities. They'd tried several houses and caused quite a bit of damage, including bursting through the window of one house to find one surprised family, sitting in front of the TV, staring back at them. They were last seen by the police, racing up Smithdown Road towards the city centre, but the patrol car didn't give chase because they didn't have permission:|

Now, I know Judge Dredd is supposed to be a satire, and nobody really wants to see that sort of thing, but just sometimes...  >:(

Got an email the other day from FP to inform me that due to a fuck-up, the hardback edition I was expecting will actually be a paperback. Arsebiscuits.

Music / Re: Upcoming Gigs
12 July, 2014, 08:49:46 AM
Last Saturday, I saw The Dowling Poole play an intimate gig to about thirty people in the room above the Fox and Newt in Leeds. Spent an hour or so afterwards chatting to a variety of (to me, at least) bona fide rock stars in the most relaxed and friendly atmosphere you could imagine.

Then on Tuesday, I drove back up to Leeds and watched Pearl Jam play a three and a half hour slot in front of a packed-out Leeds Arena. Absolutely brilliant - although Eddie did get a bit pissed and fall on his arse... :)

Music / Re: New Music thread?

Continuing my recent habit of spending far too much money on PledgeMusic, I recently picked up these three wee beauties:

The Dowling Poole: Bleak Strategies

Classic English psychedelic pop-rock from Willie Dowling (Honeycrack/Jackdaw4) and Randon Jon Poole (Cardiacs/Wildhearts).
Catchy, eccentric and well worth sticking on repeat. Perfect for the summer.

Casualties of Cool: Casualties of Cool

Devin Townsend's latest musical venture is a very laid-back country rock kinda thing.
Maybe a bit too gentle for my taste, but Devin's never been one to stick to one style for
very long and his new Ziltoid album will be along soon enough to deliver the
planet-smashing terror I crave.

CJ Wildheart: Mable
Straightforward energetic pop/rock solo effort from the Wildhearts guitarist.
Less raucous than The Wildhearts, perhaps , but still excellent.
That's definitely not how you spell "Mabel", though...

Grabbed the Dante books and MCU#2.
You do know I'm at the wrong end of my overdraft, don't you, MOLCH-R? This is all your fault!

Off Topic / Re: Life is so crap because......

I split up with my girlfriend yesterday. It had been on the cards for a while, but it was even tougher than I'd expected. No massive dramatic catalyst - things just hadn't been working for a long time and we both want very different things in life. The timing was utterly shit - I had hoped to put it off until the new year, but it just sort of came up during a conversation that wasn't quite heated enough to call an argument. Needless to say, I feel like a massive arsehole now. I hate upsetting people and this has broken her heart. I can be a real dick sometimes... :(

Games / Re: LEGO MARVEL SUPERHEROES on the PS3

In my experience, the Lego games have always been pretty buggy immediately after release, but Traveller's Tales are generally pretty good at patching them up quite quickly.
