I took my lad down to the Bournemouth Film & Comic Con on Saturday and despite a lack of comic content (common with many "comic cons" these days it seems) in favour of TV and film stuff we did get to meet the mighty John Wagner! And what a lovely bloke he was.
Quite happy to chat and sign stuff - and not charge for the privilege like most of the other guests- he made my little boy's year. He signed his copy of the old Dredd vs Death collection, and personalised it for him, and then when we bought a copy of the new Dark Justice hardcover from him he signed that one to him as well. It's Tuesday now and he's still talking about it (my son, not John Wagner!) and carrying Dark Justice around everywhere with him.
I would just like to take this opportunity to say thanks to John for being so nice and patient, taking the time to chat, and to apologise for our abysmal weather! Apparently, after being booked for a con at the seaside he decided to make a week of it down here with his wife. Their intention was to spend the week taking some lovely coastal walks and, to quote the great man, "it rained every bloody day"! Sorry John!
