No ... not the C4 series with Winwood & Cord swapped for Phil and Kirsty, but, in the words of our worthy winner, Uncle Fester:
QuoteLandscapes and locations which could involve characters but merely as decoration. As well as sweeping vistas and cityscapes, you could include layouts for ships or other transport;
Transporters from Strontium Dog
The inside of Nemesis' ship Seth.
The interior of the Dark Judges Hall
Cloning Facility used to produce Dredd
and other such things that could be completely open to interpretation.
Nice one, Unc!
Remember, there's absolutely no reason why you can't have characters in your entry, but they need to be logical to the location, be it Deadworld, Tir Nan Og, Downlode, Mega-City One, the cockpit of the Speedo Ghost, the cells of the High Rock, or any one of the hundreds of other memorable locations that 2000AD's stories have spawned.
I know that Christmas is a bit fraught for a lot of boarders, so this competition will run until Sunday 27th December -- that's six weeks, folks! -- with the usual voting period kicking off from Monday 28th.
Cheers!
Jim
This could also mean we get another chance to see Kerrin's fatty tank... :)

I am most definately up for this idea.
Fatty tank ahoy!
I'm in. Sounds fun.
Got two ideas forming as we speak. This should make for a very interesting comp, something a little different methinks.
I've decided what I'm going to do, just have no idea how I'm going to do it!!
Hmmm, don't know about a fatty tank this time out. I'm thinking more 27th century Russia.
Ooooh. So many to choose from in that time and place too... Looking forward to that.

Cool. I'm thinking the other extreme - Neolithic Europe...
Oi Grimm, don't you be nicking my ideas!! ;)
I'm up 4 this, not sure where tho
Jim and chance of an extension of the closing date..... I've not even finished the penciling yet! It's going to take ages to try and ink a Celtic berserker, a dwarf and dozen or so skull swords, a Feg, a horse a wild boar and a couple of the undead with the odd sword thrown in. Oh and a crow! None of which I have drawn before!
And with everyone producing shithot advent entries and with chribo coming up can we not extend it until maybe the 31st of the month??

Yeah. Go on, then, we'll stick a week on it ...
New Deadline: SUNDAY JAN 3rd 2010Cheers!
Jim
Cool! I've got half an idea for this, just got to find the time...
Deadline my birthday. Good choice.
V
Sweet. I've done some work on mine, but other commitments and the Advent Calender have bumed it down my priorities unfortunately. Oh well. Now I stand a chance of being able to provide an entry this month - two in a row!
pencil finished, now to ink
A chill blows through the Land of the Young. In the great round hall, one of Slaine's indentured concubines shivers against the cold while his high priest prepares a blood sacrifice, praying for portents of his monarch's return. The throne stands empty, awaiting its true occupant, who is on yet another quest.
The hall echoes with silence. Tir Nan Og awaits the one whom the goddess has chosen...

That is simply amazing, longmanshort! Wow, I really really like that!
Very dark and mysterious, strangely sexy. The stark black & white makes it for sure.
That's a bit on the gorgeous side....
That is a mighty evocative piece there longmanshort. 8) 8)
wow, that's brill. I think the first entry has already set the benchmark!!
Nice work lms!! It reminds me we don't see half as much of your art these days we should ;)
LMS, that's about as good as they come.
Fine piece of work there, longmanshort.
My slab of Mega City One:

Very impressive MangaMax! Jagger's Emporium looks the kind of place law abiding citizens should stay well away from.

Mangamax that fucking rocks - is that scratch built? LMS' entry is damn fine too, excellent mood lighting.
LMS and MangaMax - oh boy, are those high bars!
Gonna need these:

just to compete!
Wow, Mangamax, that's great! How long did that take to build?
You should build one for me!
Nice work, chaps! LMS: You've captured the old feeling that's sadly gone from Slaine. Very nice indeed.
Mangamax: Fan-bleeding-tastic. May I suggest a photo from a different angle though? Looking up from the citizens' perspective would make it really, really good. Easier said than done I suppose.

That's freaking amazing Mangamax. I'm in awe.
And Longmanshort - fantastic picture, really brilliant.
That is ace Mangamax.
Cheers for the kind words, fellas.
Mr Manshort, that was ace. Made me go back and have a look at "The King" all over again. THAT'S how evocative it was.
Genius.
Cooool!
Totally pinching one of Massimo's Slaine panels - but what a panel. Am always stunned at the amount of detail and effort he put into even something as simple as a linking image like this, and its always been one of my favourites.
Even more appreciative of his talent after doing it - took chuffin' ages
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Mangamax/PC180478.jpg)
Thats'g great that MM. I think there is going to be a bit of a Slaine theme running through this months comp. I've counted 4 with m'self and Grimbo!
Verrrrrrrrrry nice!
That's excellent Mangamax. Who cares if you're doing a nod to one of his panels, you still need more than a small amount of patience to produce it.
Stunning stuff, Mangamax. Massimo might be the influence, but you made it your own.
I think it's Belardinelli for me, too ... but not Slaine.
Cheers!

Ah the big, bad Mega-City 1. Painted in photoshop over a period of a few days and still not completed! The Dredd poster is one of my old paintings I scanned in and then mucked about with it using different layer styles+ fading it off a bit. Might get a little more done but at this time of year obviously other things tend to interrupt you.
System, that's awesome!
Incredible, IAMTHESYSTEM. We need to be seeing more of your work.
Thats great that Iamthesystem...
Right, here's my effort. Tried graying it with the magic markers with Manga Studio.

Jeez Bhuna, that's bloomin' great. It's also uncannily like mine (still a work in progress). Might have to amend it slightly!
Weird!
"Dwalf"?
That's just Sraine's accent.
The Sourlands - like it! Always thought it was one of the best Slaine locations - actually maybe Slaine is back to being an adventurer, Pat Mills should start dreaming up a few new inventive ones?
IAMTHESYSTEM - Very Cool!!!!

Was looking at Alcala's inking in the old Alan Moor Swamp Thing American Gothic Annual only a few days ago (good bog read)..... yea I can see the 'influence'
I haven't seen Alcala's work to be honest. And Jim - douchebag is Finnish for 'warm fuzzy brother'. I meant it in that sense, obviously. Thanks for the comments guys.

He's probably best known to English-speakers as an inker, having done an extended run inking Rick Veitch on Swamp Thing, and John Buscema on various Conan stories.
There are links to a selection of his own work at the top of this page (http://www.alanguilan.com/museum/alfredo.html).

I like it and i would like to see it reversed to white on black.I prefer the B+W rather than the colored version and it looks a bit like a linocut which was popular in the 1950s.
My entry is a direct copy of a panel that is page 4 of the final episode of Meltdown Man.It was just an exercise in inking and pontilising so no points for originality. Its all done with brushes. It still needs some figures in it too.
Who can tell i am obsessed ?

You could say that because i have been doing it constantly.I am trying to become more fluid with the brush because the more fluid and fast you are with the brush the better the effect is.It took long enough to find brushes i like working with and i only use Pro Arte series 107 spotter brushes now.Its all about learning how to control the brush which hasnt been easy.
Its shellac based ink on ivory board. The ink is very fast drying and if you slip up somewhere you can scrape the ink off the board using a very fine scalpel blade and go over it again.
Thanks for the feedback everyone who left some.
