I'm tempted to grab this for the Junji Ito stuff.  Haven't heard of any of the other titles though - anyone else know anything about them
Dragon Head is a post apocalyptic horror series, a group of school kids get caught in a train tunnel due to a disaster (never specified possibly WW3 possibly meteor strike) and have to survive an increasingly demented world.  It's out of print physically but I have the first six volumes and might get the last four through Book Walker.

Glepnir is about people turning into monsters and searching for "coins" on behalf of an alien.  The two main characters are in a weird, sort of twisted, sort of romantic, relationship.  It got an Anime adaptation earlier this year and is ongoing with seven volumes out to date.

Until your Bones Rot is about a group of kids who killed someone (possibly an abuser) and agreed to meet once a year in the cave where they hid the body until its rotted away but someone has taken the remains and is now blackmailing the group  (not yet purchased this one but its on my wish list on Bookwalker)

Inuyashiki is about an old man, dying of cancer who is accidently hurt by aliens who rebuild him as a cyborg and he has to hunt down another cyborg who has started killing people (think Robocop meets Death Note).  Again another series I haven't got but I've seen bits of the Anime (OP is by Man With a Mission and is a banger).

Happiness is a vampire story, also not yet read it but it appears to focus as much on the relationship between vampire and "victim" as on the whole creature of the night business.

Don't know anything about the rest although In/Spectre got an anime last year and I think is about people chasing after ghosts and demon, oh and the main female lead has an artificial leg

That armours looking a bit non-European to me - either Chinese or Japanese (not an armour expert).

I think it's pretty standard Roman stuff, TBH.

Yep, lorica segmentata* pretty common in the late Republic era I believe

*not the name used by the Romans, it's a later designation used by historians.

Film & TV / Re: Blu-ray Minithread

My anime blu-rays (and a couple of DVDs).  My latest purchases were the original Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy and the complete series of Shimoneta both from HMV and surprisingly both cheaper than Amazon.  And I've just realised my copy of Kabanari of the Iron Fortress isn't in the picture.  Bugger it I can't be bothered taking and editing another pic.

The 33 (and possibly more) members of Kyoto Animations' staff killed in an arson attack, BBC, believed to be the highest death toll by murder in post-war Japans history and around 25% of the studio's key staff.

I'm halfway through Book Two of Bakemonogatari, the first part of the Monogatari series.  Lots of clever word play on the Japanese language, some over the top violence (but not much), well written, if sarcastic characters and Senjougahara is best girl

The last month or so has seen me developing an obsessive interest in the Monogatari stories, I'm also working my way through the blu-rays.

Found the pics of the smaller cases (too late to edit) Here, and tall one Here

Once again I shamelessly plug my employers and suggest the Maine range, available in a wide range of colours and sizes.  I have two of the tall and narrow units and four of the small and narrow units.  They're wide enough for each shelf to hold around 40-45 standard trades.

The tall units have six shelves, but because of the peg points (and a fixed shelf) you can get five shelves worth of trades plus a narrow shelf on which you could lay books flat.  The small units allow for two shelves of normal trades and one shorter shelf (just big enough for the Love and Rockets trades or similar).  I posted some pics years ago in one of the dust threads.

There also quite deep, I use the boxes from the old Star Trek starship collection to keep books close to the front but that's just my preference, some people like to push their books to the back.

Many manga have the same creator or creative team throughout their runs.  Ranma 1/2 runs for 38 volumes, well over 6000 pages all written and drawn by one woman (Rumiko Takahashi).  The English translation of One Piece is currently up to 89 volumes (c. 19'000+ pages), again a single creator (Eiichiro Oda).  Golgo 13 is up to volume 188 and Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo finished at 200 volumes (and that doesn't include a number of chapters which weren't collected)

Granted these, like most manga, are B&W with just the occasional colour page but those are big figures.

What is Red Seas

Red Seas was a pirate/supernatural/horror story starting in 2002 (before Pirates of the Caribbean came out) that started with a pirate crew thwarting a mad sorcerers attempts to kill god and then making their way through a whole series of myths and legends (Laputa, Aladdin, North American Vikings, Valhalla, Hollow Earth) before sort of fizzling out and ending without really wrapping up the story.

Still a good series though and deffo deserving a place in the collection.

second only to Dredd for number of episodes in the prog.

Is this true?

Sin-Dex has appeared 348 time in the Prog (plus a few Special), by comparison Nikolai Dante "only" appeared 292 time.  I don't have a complete run of Progs (780 onwards plus another 97 earlier Progs) but Slaine racks up 248 entries in those issues and Strontium Dog 188.  There were also 201 Future Shocks.

Not to mention the pewter plates and cups they used.  Read somewhere that lead poisoning via (among other things) mulled wine in pewter drinking vessels was one of the reasons ancient Rome had a severe problem with impotency and infertility leading to a drop in population growth.

I'm reading it, or at least I've read the 1st issue, just waiting on the next one.  I'm enjoying it and it'll be interesting to see where the story goes.  Like the art to.

The repo for Spugbug in the Case Files is terrible, you can hardly read the opening spread.  The version in the Mega Collection isn't the best but it's a lot better than the CF.

Only more Abnett love from me, too!
I would say that he took a little while to get going in his 2000AD career. Very early SinDex is charming but his other early work has all been far bettered since:

BlackLight, Sacho Panzer, Atavar, Black Atlantic are all OK thrills.

I don't remember anything about Black Atlantic - shall have to have a look at the Heroes... blog to see if it rings any bells.

Comedy series from the Meg (253-255 & 276-278) about a bunch of misfits running a salvage/scavenger ship out in the aforementioned Black Atlantic. Art by Steve Roberts
