Help! / Re: Snow in 2000AD
30 October, 2016, 09:46:55 PM
In Dredd-world there was a fair bit of snow in "Gulag" as well as in the early parts of Devlin Waugh's "Chasing Herod" whilst the last few chapters of "Sirius Rising" were set in the Antarctic.  The last few parts of Missionary Man "Promised Land" were set during a blizzard

Also the Shimura story "Assassin" had some scenes set in winter, and there was a bit in another story set at a hot springs in winter (I think), although these were in the Megazine so do they count?.

oh and wasn't there a Dredd story where Old Stony Face used snow to stop the craze of nudity/naturism, or was that just cold rain?

Beyond Dredd the Mercy Heights story "Dead of Winter" was set on a icy planet, and one of Rose O'Rions adventures started on a similar world.

Twice in the Megazine, once as part of the old "Interrogation Cube" series in Meg 214 and more recently a full interrogation in Meg 258

I popped in to speculate on who the mystery judge we are clearly supposed to think is Anderson but equally clearly isn't is, but I think Frank might have nailed it already. Any other suggestions?

Isn't the
Kazan clone

wheelchair bound
?

Pubs wot don't clean their beer lines properly. Without being overly enthusiastic about either, I know Doom Bar and SA Gold shouldn't smell and taste of vinegar.
Back when I lived in pubs (1974-90) failure to clean your lines regularly and properly was a serious offence for a landlord or manager, as I recall one or two people were dismissed by John Smiths for said offence.

Having said that the chemicals we used back then were a bit less eco-friendly than the stuff they use these days and would probably make your drink taste worse than vinegar.

Spoiler free warning - Volume two of Wic+Div ends with one of the biggest WTF! moments I've ever read in a comic.

I've not noticed the shield on Anderson's shoulder eagle before. Is this a new thing?

Also the Judges are wearing their Lawgivers on their belts rather than in their boots, either it's a new uniform or it's an option for Judges when their expecting to be on their feet a lot rather than biking it (which makes sense)

Film & TV / Re: Westworld - TV Series

"Way out West", Prog 1221.  Not quite a parody, the duo have to capture a syn-human "actor" in a virtual reality style wild west show which is going to be converted into a gladiatorial show.

There's a comedy Dredd strip from I think the Megazine.  A scrawler is sentenced to community service with a block cleaning firm and that shows a dog-vulture turd as looking like a dog's turd

Jay Faerber has confirmed more Copperhead us heading our way soon, with a new artist on board...

https://twitter.com/jayfaerber/status/745970958138281986

He's always said its was on it way back so wasn't too worried, just had to be patient. That said its a real shame about the art change. Drew Moss looks okay, not too back but he's no Scott Godlewski. Wonder what he's moving onto? Real shame this book isn't doing better, its quite superb.

Looking forward to getting more whatever. Hopefully not too much longer to wait?

Scott Godlewski has just finished off the rather excellent Dark & Bloody for Vertigo and he's now starting on a comic book sequel to the Lost Boys again from Vertigo and out in October

Necrophage? Rennie/Burns - the title sounds like a fit, but I can't remember the story.

Post Necropolis story with cannibal cults supporting ghouls who used to be their relatives, one guy was stealing bits from Resyk.

I believe it will be Issue 56, which means it'll be released some time in... March 2017 (I think)

Help! / Re: Microssoft Works and Windows 10

Cheers Professor Bear, to be honest I'm most likely going to stick with 7, the more I look at 10 the less appealing it becomes but at least I now know there's a way to keep my files if I have to change PC.

Help! / Microssoft Works and Windows 10
05 June, 2016, 02:18:31 PM
Some tech help/advice is needed.  My father has been bugging me to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10, the free window is running out.  I'm not too fussed about 10 (it seems like nothing special to me) but I'm wondering if either:-

A - Windows Works works in 10, or if

B - There's an alternative programme available (preferably free) which opens .doc etc. files

The reason for asking is that I've got about thirty various indexes and other files created in Works which I'll need to use in 10.

There's a few copies of "A Natural History of the Unnatural World" going cheap on e-bay - one listing Here.  It's written as a field journal for a crypto-zoological society, sort of a cross between National Geographic and the X-Files.  It proposes that many mythical creatures are real and just misunderstood by modern science.  I've had a copy for over twenty years and it's still interesting.
