Which is our loss.  Like Abnett, Rennie just keeps getting better and better, and his place as Second Banana on Dredd will be hard to fill.

It's pretty clear that the Florida School Board is under the Imperious Curse.  Expect the poor man to be replaced by a toad-like lady with a kitten fixation.

Well, I'd seen a fair bit on YouTube, so maybe I was already tired of it, but I thought it was a bit weak.  Certain sequences had no jokes at all (the Death Star attack was virtually a (blandly) animated version of the real thing).

Maybe I just couldn't get past mixing the paedophilia running gag (which I don't like anyway) with Ben Kenobi.

"learning was assessed by checking verbally for understanding at the end of each segment".

Heh, Ferris Bueller's school was way ahead of its time:  "Anyone? Anyone?".

Eckchewly, I'm sorry, I realise that I just misspoke:

I did have one outsatnding lecturer in Climatology who did indeed set lesson outcomes, or rather course outcome singular.  It was a Final Year elective course, and he wrote "Describe and explain the climatology of the Tropical Zones" on the board, and said "This will be your exam question, worth 100% of your final marks.  By the end of this course, you will be able to answer it fully in one hour".  Bloody brilliant - i got stuck in with a will, and after much blood sweat and tears The Course Outcome Was Achieved.

But I'm thinking that's not exactly what you're referring to...

But I'm thinking

Ah, one of my favourite questions when I was (briefly) a lecturer:

"Which bits of this do we have to know?".
"Why none of it dear, we're all just wasting each other's time."

Think of the trouble I could have saved myself by just writing three answers on a bit of paper, anding them out and then trundling on with my inconsequential waffle...

I'm not much help to you, Ush, having done BA and part-taught Masters at the National University Ireland, and taught Diploma-level in the Institute of Technology and Saor Olscoil outfits, and my little'un isn't yet school age, but I can safely report:

Thank God, no.

Just be a great guy the rest of the time.

Damnit man, do you have any idea how hard it is to clean bilious vomit from a MacBook?

They complain about the congestion charge, speed bumps etc. The proposed £25 congestion charge for gas guzzlers was the last straw for those types.

This really is a pretty sad attitude, when the rest of the world (my own car-choked city included) have generally been amazed by the success of the London experiment, and have been trying to work out how they could finagle a similar system themselves.

As he hates scousers, you'd have thought he'd have gone for Mayor of Manchester.

Or indeed Liverpool.

I went back last summer for the first time in nearly 20 years, and I found the place cleaner, friendlier and generally much improved.

Agree with Jim here.

I only have a tourist/business visitor's perspective on London, and I couldn't comment on how directly the office of Mayor contributes to these things, but to my casual eye London works far better than it did a decade ago - public transport, traffic and litter all seemed much improved on my most recent visit last November.

Anyway, Angus Deaton was a far better chairman.
