News / And she's off...
29 September, 2004, 10:44:55 PM
According to reports Spaceship One has set off on it's first shot at the X Prize.  We should know in about an hour whether they are successful.

If so then a second attempt within the week will win the prize...

Creative Common / Colouring Tutorial Link
28 September, 2004, 09:28:14 PM
A while back there were a load of threads on colouring artwork using photoshop.

On one of these there was a link to a tutorial on another website that walked through doing a strip, complete with the artwork to download.  I had the link archived, but have lost it.

I can't seem to find it on the Search.

Anyone have it to hand?

Wake

Is there something wrong with the board servers at the moment?  All the dates and times on the board seem to be an hour out...

Or is it just me (At work and at Home)

General / More Lovely wallpaper
28 September, 2004, 05:06:25 AM
At thet request of Mr Logan I have out photoshop and buffed up a scan of his of America from way back (1991 according to the signature)

Anyhoo, if the webfu works, there should be 3 versions of wallpaper at the end of the links.

If Wake wants to host them on the site here then that'd be grand...

Stop sniggering at the back.  That means you Dudley.

Having taken delivery of my lovely new 20" imac on Friday and spent the weekend playing with its glorious giant screen, my work CRT seems strangely unsatisfactory this morning.

Anyone else having screen envy?

Being bored tonight, and looking through the board I decided to improve my photoshop and tablet skills by having a go at inking PJs Alan and John sketch...

Any feedback from those better at these things than I would be appreciated...

Help! / N London T-Shirt Printers
13 September, 2004, 05:43:37 PM
Thinking of doing something a bit spesh for Dreddcon (little con habit of mine).  Not sure what I want attached to a tshirt as yet, however my main problem at the moment is finding somewhere near Camden that does Tshirt prints.

Any suggestions?

General / What happens last?
10 August, 2004, 10:35:23 PM
Right,

Don't think I need spoilers for this one, but if you're nervous, then leave now.

Re-reading 100 Bullets book 1 last night I picked up on something, that gave me an idea for a thread here.

So here we go, the idea is, to perdict the end of a series from the first issue.  You really should try and avoid any future knowledge, and keep it to currently running stories (nothing that's finished so as not to spoil anyone)...  You can use "general information" about a series...

The thing that caught me in 100 bullets #1 is this:  The opening narration starts something like:
"This is a long story. Mine starts here"

I predict that Dizzy will survive to at least the end of Issue 100. And that 100 Bullets will essentially turn out to be her story.

Any More

General / What's out of your window
26 July, 2004, 09:58:39 PM
In a similar vein to last weeks "...desk" question another fit of boredom leads me to try a sequal (and they're never as good as the original).

So what is there?

Here I have a choice of 2:
To My left is the next door building with a nice Moby transmitter just 10 meters away from my desk ;)

In Front I have the yard.  At the moment Johnathan Woss is moving into his new offices.  He has a machin gun in there.  The other day he was wearing bondage trousers and pink cowboy boots.  This is Camden, he was dressed down.

Your turn.

In a fit of boredom, I was looking at my desk here and wondered, whats on other peoples desks?

Apart from a couple of files of work I have:

A postcard of Mount Everest
A Snow globe with 3 penguins
A Mark Harrison/Boba Fett pencil tin
A Reservoir dogs mouse mat

Rather spartan I must say...

So go on, what's on yours?

Having descended deeper into the pits of hell with my illegal downloading activities, I discovered yet another plaudit to heap onto the great D'Isreali.

Did you know that he was the colourist on (at least) the Silver Age Miraclemen?

General / Great Lost stories...
23 June, 2004, 09:25:29 PM
The couple of recent mentions of Mark Millar's "Apocalypse War: The Revenge" have got me thinking about those stories that have never made the light.  Specifically those that have been announced and then sank without trace.  Or even had a first book and then disappeared.

The biggie that I can think of was "The History of Mega City" in the Megazine early issues (?Armageddon?)

General / Original Artwork...
22 June, 2004, 03:54:50 PM
Right,

Having gloated over the purchase of my wonderful original Dom artwork over on the other thread I've got a quick question.

I know that the artwork is kosher as, a) I trust wake, and b) tipp-ex is a good indicator ;), but i was wondering about value/signing/etc...

Would it affect (in either direction) it's value if I were to take it along to (say) DreddConn and get GRennie and Dom to sign it???

Thinking more insurance rather than sales prices, as its going on the wall.

General / Letter Writers untie
09 June, 2004, 09:02:53 PM
Over on the Prog 1393 thread VampireJen and Wod have both had letters printed this week.

This reminded me that reading Prog 2000 last night, Wake has a letter printed.

We all know that Floyd Kermode has had at least one letter printed at some point.

So who else here is "published" and how many times...

Also who's the highest profile letter published:
I know that Warren Ellis and Colin Macneil have both had early entries...

Can't see no thread on this, so am I the only one who has it ?

So Mini review 'till the big boys get here:

Cover: Nice Clarke and Blythe war on terror - although the logo is being hidden again...
Dredd:  The War on Terror is shaping up quite nicely.  Macneil on top form and Wagner makes some quite sly comments on freedom fighters.  Oh, and is this the first appearance of Judge Logan?
Savage: Looks like people were right about the interregator.  Wonder what some people will say about that.  Jumps around a little though.
AHAB: Much as I like this, the last few episodes have been rather choppy.  Looks like Quequeeg has an agenda .  Not sure why Ismaels been given the other plot strand though...
Chopper:  Penultimate episode and Dredd's smelling a rat.  Good yarn, but rather pedestrian

Overall 7.5/10

Help! / Sketch posting...
02 June, 2004, 04:06:34 AM
Reet, I know that I have to host the images somewhere of my own (know where this will be - just need to scan them), but once I've got them there, and know where they are, how do I post > 1 image...

Do I write the web fu by hand in this box here???
