General / Any Chance of More Big Finish Audios?
10 September, 2016, 06:33:49 PM
I know the previous 2000 AD audio dramas by Big Finish weren't the greatest but I really enjoyed them.  At the very least they certainly captured more thrill-power flavour than the that bloody film from 1995!

I wonder if there's any chance of the good folks at Rebellion commissioning a new series for the Progs big anniversary next year.

The Doctor Who dramas have come a long way over the years as the company have honed their skills and attracted some really talented people.  I'd love to see what they could do with 2000 AD these days... Perhaps even taking over the canon set by the 2012 Dredd film...

General / Full List of Swear Words, Creeps!?
29 August, 2016, 11:16:29 AM
Drokk, Stomm, Jovus, Grud... All classic but is there a full list of 2000AD expletives.  I'm curious about the more obscure words or even peoples favourites.

I work with kids and they find it infinitely amusing when I use these 'cheeky' words and I'm always up for expanding my vocabulary. :)

General / Daily Star Strips Worth Revisiting?
20 August, 2016, 10:54:39 AM
When I was wee my most regular fix of JD was through the Daily Star newspaper strips.  I really enjoyed them and, indeed, it was through them that I got into 2000AD.

I was thinking of picking up volume one of The Daily Dredds but money's tight so I'm a little wary.

What's the general consensus on the strips?  Are they fun for nostalgia only or do they actually contain some real merit?  Is the Daily Dredd compilation worth picking up?

Any and all opinions welcome. :)

Welcome to the board / Hello From an Old Fart
17 August, 2016, 10:31:29 AM
Hey folks.  I'm just another returning reader.  Well, I say returning but until recently I haven't really read much 2000 AD since the mid 80's!

Getting older has made me yearn for simpler times so I'm regressing into childhood loves... I've a feeling I'm hitting a mid life crisis but, hey, at least buying comics is cheaper and less embarrassing than buying a Porsche convertible and toupe!
