Quote from: Funt Solo on Today at 03:37:35 PMOriginal Rogue leaned heavily into that World War II notion of a just war, with the Norts depicted as an entire army of SS-type fanatics, and the Southers more or less the American GIs. You could still have top brass baddies on the Souther side.

One of the reasons why Jaegir is so good - it muddies the waters.

Quote from: Funt Solo on Today at 05:10:39 PMRogue Trooper gets criticized for its naming conventions: the guy in the bag is Bagman etc. It seems too unrealistic, they say.

But a man called "Bankman-Fried" just got 25 years for running a crypto-Ponzi scheme. The most famous case before that was Bernie Madoff (who made-off with other people's money). Lou Pearlman stole everyone's pearls. Gerald Payne got 27 years, which had to hurt. Don't even get me started on Charles Ponzi!

Dredd The action hero Dredd kind of grates with me now, I like the clipped, precise and economical Dredd, but that's just me, would have been better if Dredd had worked that out with the lift himself.

De Marco - Not really catching my attention except that scar seems way disproportionate.

Black Museum was a  good short.

Hookjaw  working well but would do better in a GN.

Under Siege: Just the movie reworked really?

Devlin Waugh enjoyed this, and chortled at the thought of the more gammon elements losing the plot about this.

Harrower Squad Enjoyed the set up and the policies alluded to made the trough to get here worthwhile, but can't see MC1 would want with an ethnically cleansed central belt? Especially when they have vast areas that are post chaos day cleared themselves, and are short of a bob or two currently.

Dredd: Good tale, but that Lawmaster is soooo not where they have been going since the movie!

Full Tilt Boogie -Just don't get it, five pages of talking heads...

Thistlebone - great serial , and artwork, didn't 'get' the ending though.

Indigo Prime - not for me, seems a throw whatever you like in the pot whenever you like, why? well cause its cool.

Rogue Trooper shockingly bad, like someone phoned it in from another strip, colouring didn't help either.

Proteus Vex: lots to like looking at it, but I struggle caring tbh.

Prog really not doing it for me just now, this certainly wouldn't have grabbed me if I was a newbie

Quote from: Woolly on 27 March, 2024, 08:05:02 PMAs for Hale, I imagine Dredd saw too much of himself there. No need for two Dredd's on this mission I guess!

Nah, Dredd inferred his logic earlier in the story: a heatseeker would have done the job.  I don't think he's impressed by showboating; he wants someone who knows their duty.

Quote from: Proudhuff on 20 March, 2024, 02:53:31 PMWell Debbie Harry was Anderson...

... who now looks younger than Debbie Harry did when she inspired Bolland to create the character's look.  They're only pictures in a comic, I know, but it gets on my wick something rotten.
Totally agree, and what you said on Robin's thread.
I keep throwing outthere the idea that Anderson goes through the menopause and levels half of MC1, no takers so far...

That's a pity Robin, sorry you're going prog free.
I can understand it, there have been times recently where the Prog has been a one or two out of five for me, but as long as I can afford it I'll keep my subbies up.

Quote from: JayzusB.Christ on 25 February, 2024, 05:29:01 PMPoppers! I'd forgotten they existed.  They used to be legal here in Ireland but I'm not sure if they still are.

Can you still get em in the UK? asking for a friend. :-\

Wouldn't take much to level it up to the standards in the strip.

My home town get a name check on the first page, so I'm well chuffed.

Quote from: The Legendary Shark on 01 February, 2024, 05:59:08 PMTo bring this discussion back to an entirely more boring dimension, I was thinking about the problematic names and whether some tortured rationalisation might be found to keep them in the story.

So, how about a unit of deep-penetration soldiers, specialised in making lone forays deep inside enemy lines

I think that was covered with GI Buttplug
