How Comics Work
This "How It's Done" series reveals insider hints, tips, and tricks from one of the world's greatest comic creators in his own words. The artist behind juggernauts like Watchmen and The Green Lantern, Dave Gibbons is here to teach you scriptwriting, page layouts, lettering, cover designs, and more, and he's doing it with scans of original artwork and rarely seen workings to illustrate his personal creative processes.

How Comics Work covers both Gibbons' hand-drawn and digital design techniques in depth. An early adopter of computer design in comic creation, all his lettering is digital, and he even has his own 'hand-lettered' font. This is your chance to gain insight to Gibbons' digital work, from his computer coloring and 3D modelling with Angus McKie on Give Me Liberty, to his work on The Originals using digital greytones. You'll learn how he layers text for editing, creates effects such as flares and neon glows, and prepares artwork for print and online.

Same format, more or less – just more time-travel oriented. The Moore book includes all his shorts – Future Shock, Time Twisters, and a few other bits (such as the complete Abelard Snazz). If you can track down a copy, it's one of the best Rebellion volumes you'll find.
It leaves out his two non-Snazz Robo-Tales and his earliest Future Shock, 'A Holiday in Hell!'

Also 'Southern Comfort', but no one seems sure if he wrote that one or not.

M.I.K.

I'll say this here as well, just in case you don't see it on the other thread. Ricky Rubberneck isn't a separate strip, it's Faceache's 'real' name.

O Lucky Stevie!

I can't place which stories those are - though Alan did seem to like his holiday shorts!

Bloody annoying 'How Comics Work' priced at £20 on Amazon UK but only $16 (£12) on Amazon US where I accidentally went first. Bloody Brexit / Trump / Daily Mail! (delete as appropriate)

'A Holiday in Hell!' was in the 1980 Sci-Fi Special. It's almost his first professional work under his own name, but was beaten to it by 'Black Legacy' in Doctor Who Weekly by a couple of weeks.

'Southern Comfort' was in the following year's special. It's credited to the pseudonymous R.E. Wright, but Moore's supposed to have had at least one hacked-about script go out under a false name, and this has been identified as a likely suspect.

'Killer in the Cab' (Prog 170) and 'The Dating Game' (Prog 176) were his first contributions to the weekly, went out under the Robo-Tales banner and were missed out from the Complete Future Shocks.

That granite-y title font is reminiscent of the classic Judge Dredd logo and the "Rogue" part of Rogue Trooper.

That cover needs a playing card.

Yes, indeed.

Never had chance to read more than a few episodes of this strip before, but super glad it's all being collected. Something I hoped would happen at some point.

Prime Steve Dillon art - so an essential purchase, I'd say.

Sorry moly and Spikes, that was a joke of mine.  Obviously not a good one.  The other Laser Eraser is from one of the Fleetway funny comics. :-[

I'll drop the reference off the next list.
