Wotcha!
So was thinking it would be good to see updated photos of bookcases, collections and mancaves now that the Xmas hauls have joined the shelves, and a whole load of new dolls action figures are out there.
Anyone what to start?
Colin?
I have an extended ex-garage building that's going to be a man cave with comic storage, a retro gaming area and a bar with patio doors that lead out into the garden.
At the moment it's just a slightly damp room full of boxes.
...maybe I'll wait for the 2018 thread
I may have begun a man cave project by building two - YES, TWO - bookcases, and teasing it on on Facebook.
Expect completion in the spring, although I'm not saying which spring.

I'm sorry, but I can't fix shelves to walls until I paint the walls, one of which has never been painted because it was a creation by our contractor, to cover a fusebox and other ugly things.
And I can't paint the basement until I finish the upper floors, which are all effectively a single space. Open-plan living seemed like a good idea at the time.
I'm making progress... slowly.
And it's more like edging than teasing.
The new Xmas stuff has largely been installed on my shelves, so here goes:
Star Wars corner - new additions are 1st Order TIE Fighter, Millenium Falcon, and Lego Mini X-Wing
(http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x32/scowling_monkey/888B77E1-DDC7-43E8-945E-A23D179A11B7_zpsmciumx0q.jpg) (http://s186.photobucket.com/user/scowling_monkey/media/888B77E1-DDC7-43E8-945E-A23D179A11B7_zpsmciumx0q.jpg.html)
Bookshelf - new Millenium Falcon cardboard model.

2000AD/cherished graphic novels shelf - new Globular Rad-Sleet Simulator! :D

Some great stuff there love the sensitive Clegg, werewolf judge and monkey on his cloud, did you make them yourself
Yep! I also made the Gronk, Cookie, Don Uggie Apelino, and the Dredd snow globe. :D
Very impressive shaolin especially the clegg
Okay, updated my vintage Star Wars shelves with a Rancor, a dewback, a taun taun and my final "last 17" figure, Warok the Ewok. This is now a complete standard set of vintage Star Wars figure. Could pimp it out fully with a dianoga, a probe droid and a blue snaggletooth. Maybe next year.

Ooofff! So much shelfy goodness!
My mini-cave of manliness has continued to evolve...apologies for the ordinary photos (low light).
North-side...within a year or two I will have to upgrade each shelf to hold 150 progs instead of 100 progs - which will give me a lot more breathing room. But it's okay for now.
(http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u305/krakajac/82533ED4-2375-4E2C-858F-D62755AE175C_zps6ebkou54.jpg) (http://s171.photobucket.com/user/krakajac/media/82533ED4-2375-4E2C-858F-D62755AE175C_zps6ebkou54.jpg.html)
South-side...nothing much has changed with the vintage Action Man collection - space for one more figure. Carrie's autographed photo a bit more poignant now.
(http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u305/krakajac/BA1A45A1-3F61-45D7-94DB-60E5ED46DB89_zpsphw3k8fo.jpg) (http://s171.photobucket.com/user/krakajac/media/BA1A45A1-3F61-45D7-94DB-60E5ED46DB89_zpsphw3k8fo.jpg.html)
West-side...again, not too much change.
(http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u305/krakajac/2460ECEA-193C-4439-AD0A-3AAB39B70D7E_zpshgaper3j.jpg) (http://s171.photobucket.com/user/krakajac/media/2460ECEA-193C-4439-AD0A-3AAB39B70D7E_zpshgaper3j.jpg.html)
East-side...big changes. My mid-life crisis partially alleviated by a MAME cabinet. Uses a refurbished PC. Room on the wall for a King Carlos commission that I'm getting framed.
(http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u305/krakajac/AEBC1B66-262A-4E81-84A1-F23C14AFAC74_zpsjlyj6wvh.jpg) (http://s171.photobucket.com/user/krakajac/media/AEBC1B66-262A-4E81-84A1-F23C14AFAC74_zpsjlyj6wvh.jpg.html)
A better look at the cabinet. The pinball plunger allows one to play...digital pinball games (funnily enough).

With the purchase of the MAME cabinet, had to do a bit of reorganising. Resin DL-44 kit that I recently finished. Bowl has 100 x US 1974 uncirculated one-cent coins. Cost me a lost more than $1.00 - but nice to use with the gum-ball machine (now housing Jaffas).

That's it for now!
Shaolin_monkey do you do commission ?
So much awesomeness.
Krakajac - some pretty impressive shelves there!! You've inspired me to maybe put some more of my vintage Star Wars stuff out. My figures are largely consigned to my Darth Vader collector case.
Moly - sorry, I don't do commissions. I just don't have the time! Plus I only create when I feel inspired/get the urge. I've tried painting and suchlike to order in the past, and find it sucks the joy out of the creative process. I just love the time and freedom to make stuff on my own terms.
That said, I've posted some 'how to make' stuff up here and elsewhere - maybe you could have a go yourself?
I posted a few 'in progress' shots on Tumblr recently if that's any help:

A few of the figures on those shelves have their own making-of threads on this very forum (if it hasn't been done yet, no doubt someone will post links soon enough).

lovin that clegg, had a go sculpting a few years ago (hellboy bust) but never seemed to get it right ,didn't know to use a wire frame or to pad the thing before putting the clay on....might give it another go when we finish our house sorting/cleaning
Anyone one else want to show off their geekdom?

Well if the offer i've made on a house goes through without a hitch i'll probably be updating a lot as I erect my comichood (wahey!).
Watch this space!!!
Good luck Hawk! (you've made me realise once more I desperately need to move out of London and stop pissing away money on renting a 1-bed flat, if only so I can buy more beautiful comics).
Unfortunately house buying in England rarely goes through without a hitch of some sort, but good luck with it.

This isn't the way to do it is it? :-[
Found my boys figure box in the loft recently
Anyone who owns a 1990's Forge figure can't be 100% evil.
That is a 90's trove :o Had many of them myself - !

I'm banned from leaving Lancashire as it is (after that incident with that televangelist in Stoke) so whats the worst that could happen?!

picked that up in a toyshop in Italy along with Apocalypse(?) , there's a another similar boxful of Starwars kicking about with more of the same up the loft.
there was a Slaine in there too, but the grand nephew had that away.... ::)
Update in the cave of Tharg!
My collection was in the process of reaching critical mass. As much as I liked having 100 progs per shelf - I was running out of room sharpish...
So...it was necessary to increase progage per shelf to 150. As a result, freeing up 7 shelves for the future.
After crunching the data - I now have room for an additional 1050 progs - which equates to over 19 years and should get me comfortably through to the year 2036. By which time, we will hopefully be viewing the weekly prog in a VR environment. ;)
Also amazing to think that the Megazine is fast approaching 500 issues (they take up the five shelves in the bottom left of the photo).
Having just completed work on my gable end (oooer Matron) next project, shelves...book shelves and lots of em! :D

Hope the house offer went through fairly painlessly (totally painlessly would be ideal, but we don't live in a perfect world, so I'm being realistic).

In the present we'll be getting Meg 400 next month - good to get confirmation from the future that it'll last at least another 100 months!
Ha!
Apologies for the typo. I think I confused myself and thought I had 100 megs per shelf. Of course, we're approaching 400. :)
