Ah, there's a famous Z-Cars scene in which the bloke leans into the car to grab his dispatch-microphone - forgetting that the audience aren't supposed to *know* the cars don't have windshields (too many reflections) - and does so directly through the non-existent glass.

Never saw an episode in my life, just remember hearing the story in an interview a year or so ago.
