Prog arrived on time after last weeks snafu.
Opened the Prog to page 2 and read Tharg's comments concerning Steve Dillion and then looked at the black box below which simply states 'grim'.
Didn't feel like reading it after this.
Maybe next week.
:'(
prog 2006 is a no-show again this week, here in Ayrshire sector of cal-hab .
I only received delivery of prog 2005 just yesterday anyway , so I wasn't building my hopes up for a delivery today . :-(
No show in GeordielLand as well!!! :'(
Great cover from the Flint droid. Only read Dredd so far. It comes to an end well enough, though more of a pause. Really enjoyed this rather brief story arc. Look forward to when these plot threads are picked up again in the near (hopefully) future!
No show in Sheffield, sadly. Fingers crossed for monday!
Seen the cover on facebook though... brilliant cover, but looks potentially a bit spoilery.
Clearly looking like cloaked people/judges with elbow pads and the like as opposed to any enceladus entity?
Not that I'd know either way.
Being progless :(

Posted from that Thought Bubble
So I now can consider recent story as a sequel to both Titan and Trifecta? Great!
They persumably are the remnants of the assassins from Trifecta? Z
I immediately thought Trifecta when I saw that cover too, though as I'm not a subscriber I shall have to wait until mid week to find out.
Great Prog this week.
Dredd doesn't really feel like it is finished. Great to see
a little cameo from Smiley
Everything else seems to move swiftly to the point.
The art overall is top notch.
Great cover - again.
Flint is definitely on form with the current storyline. I'm also loving the muted / faded colouring. I'm assuming that it was deliberate mind. This is quickly wrapped with the obvious teaser of more (The End? yeah, right) That said, I'm with those who are growing a little weary of the old conspiracy theory storylines. I know Justice Dept is a very pale shadow of its former glory but all the same, it is a becoming a bit of a worn thread now.
Flesh has completely lost me now so that is a bit of a skim. Holocaust Squad Hunted is an enjoyable positioning episode for the obvious final showdown. I know that the ending is in some respects a little obvious but it is going to be interesting to see how Rennie lands this. The ambivalence of Savage is now really showing and it is becoming harder to determine exactly who the villain of the piece is. Mills seems to be really delving into the psychosis of the character now. Godard's artwork suits it nicely. Counterfeit Girl goes all Philip K Dick. Dayglo does seem to be enjoying himself though.
Overall then an enjoyable prog to be honest. Apologies to the frustrated but it was nice to have it on time as well. The only perk of monthly subscription!

I really hate to say anything negative about the legend that is Mr Flint, but I don't like the muted colours. I much prefer the Day of Chaos and Trifecta look with Chris Blythe's colours.
A Saturday delivery makes for a happy squaxx, as does a quiet Sunday to read it and a quality Prog.
Dredd is intriguing, love the cast of characters and the cameo appearance. I agree that this is rather a worn thread but there are a few loose ends to clear up. I'm enjoying the more muted colours.
The dinosaur tale is rather baffling to me but the last page was great to look at.
Not so keen on this latest Rogue outing, I know many on here are...but I'm not fond of the art, doesn't gel with Rogue for me.
I'm enjoying Savage, having not really in the past, the 'thousand year stare' is a great line. Lovely artwork. Fewer song lyrics please.
Counterfeit Girl continues to be enjoyable - with a good (not so) surprising closing this week.
Strong B+ for the mighty one!
.
Even if it means the convergence of the Trifecta/Titan storylines trickles out in three or four part runs over the next five years, it's worth letting Henry Flint loose with the crayons*.
It makes these stories feel distinct and something special; Staples and Ezquerra are the only other artists who've been allowed to self-colour significant runs of Dredd recently**.
Williams's farewell opus will be packaged as a Dark Justice-style hardback when it's finished, so it's only fair that Henry Flint's allowed to show off his incredible art to its best advantage.
* No disrespect to Chris Blythe's excellent work at all, but comparing Act Of Grud to The Cold Deck exposes the limitations of computer colouring as a medium. It's just a bit sore on the eyes.
** D'Israeli, Burns, Elson, Taylor, Harrison and Cook all kept inside the lines on shorter stories. And yes, I know Flint uses a variety of traditional and digital techniques to produce his colour strip work.
Happiness is a Saturday prog!
Dredd is a lesson in compact storytelling. The last few panels would take an entire issue in some US comics.
STILL NO PROG HERE IN AYRSHIRE SECTOR. not a haapy squaxx here at all
WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE MAIL SERVICE ( or no service for me )
Although I am not the biggest fan of Flesh because the humans are just a bit boring, I really enjoyed that dinosaur fight.
Fine margins, fine margins. All behind a quite astonishing good cover. Man Henry Flint has somehow found new ways to get better. Not just on the cover but on the fantastic Dredd. So much in there. So many questions left. That ? at 'The End' is surely not required there has to be more right? More Judge Sam, more about the secrets in the walls, more about madness and visions, more about who is prepared to make the sacrifices. This has been a brilliant Dredd and offers so much more to come.
Did the croc have spines on its back last time in Flesh? Anyway pointless points aside the dino action just doesn't work for me, the pacing seemed off... or something. The idea of the rangers at the end of the world I seem to have settled with at least. So interested to see what this has next... if not too much in this episode itself.
Hunted continues to suffer a little too much by the weight of how much its packing it. I loved the episode a couple of weeks ago that gave time to the led. Here there is so much break neck action nothing gets to breathe. Its fun don't get me wrong just wish it could be as good as the 'origin' episode had shown it could be.
Savage however manages to go for it both barrels blazing and throw in some character. Okay its not subtle either but it plays with Bill's svage madness really well. Loved this episode.
Counterfeit Girl just continues to rattle along in glorious multicoloured delight as our heroine chases down her last hope the relentless pace of this series takes us around another sharp turn with chaotic elegance. It really is a breathless wonder, but with a skill that carries you along effortlessly. I think this will even better read as one and shows something very specific about why a 6 page 2000ad story is unique and its hard to imagine this story being told in any other comic.
This run of post 2000 stories has been a glorious mix of ups and downs and I'm lovin' the ride.

Monday delivery for my prog in Sheffield today... but still no prog 2005!
So a polite call to the subs department and the ever so helpful Oliver and one is in the post, fingers X'd...
The progs are looking very good at the moment, especially Dredd and the excellent Rob Williams shows how a story arc is done which compliments the equally fabulous Henry Flint's work.
These last two short Dredd runs (IMHO) have been better than what went down over the summer and although the men in the walls are back  - It's very welcome indeed...

I must have missed that.
Christ, had I known Rob Williams was packing in Dredd i'd have spent a little longer chatting with him this weekend past. What an absolute shame one of the best writers on the strip right now is stepping back from it all.

A shame if its true.
I know the Williams Droid has an increasing workload at DC, but it would have been nice to have him pen a few stories each year.

Not sure where the "Williams is quitting Dredd" rumour has come from, but it's bunkum.

Frank trolled me again? Well that's another notch on his rifle then...
There's quite a lot of Franks post appears to be conjecture or bunkum. Maybe Enceladus should be a hardback opus, but I doubt very much anyone has set that in stone and "exposes the limitations of computer colouring as a medium" is a bit of nonsense as, as far as I'm aware, every artist - bar Simon Davis is now using digital colouring. (A fact he points out in a secondary footnote).

Ufff...
Prog 1862 with start of Titan was my entry point as a weekly reader (previous to that I was only buying collected editions) so Williams/Flint Dredd is somewhat close to my heart now and I wish for much more in the future.

This is an interesting run of stories for me. Dredd and Counterfeit Girl are my consistent favourites with the rest jostling for third position.
This week Savage gets the honours with a tense and quite brutal episode with Savage seeming to actually know what he's doing beneath the apparent insanity. The song lyrics continue to distract, though - now Uncle Pat's even got the characters commenting on them!
Speaking of Uncle Pat, Flesh continued to throw out mind-blowing images. That last page with the meteor approaching was pretty damn breathtaking. Even so, as someone else pointed out earlier in the thread, the human characters are nowhere near as compelling as the dinosaurs.
Hunting is pulling me in a bit more now that Atalia seems to be making her presence felt. Are we about to see how she got her scar?

Or alternatively it looked like a rather static collage of a random cratered rock hovering over some other stuff. I got no sense of mass or motion from it, let alone an imminent atmospheric impact. Not for me, I'm afraid, although I did appreciate the Rex/Deinosuchus tussle, tickled my Willis O'Brien cluster.

It was there this morning on the iPad app.

Some good news in a bad news week!
Dirty Frank with his monocle made me smile
Subscription prog only arrived on Wednesday for second week in a row; hope this isn't a sign of things to come. :(
[I appreciate Prog 2005's non-Saturday delivery was due to an error at the printers but I've not seen any explanation for Prog 2006 not arriving on time.)
I'm in the middle of nowhere on the Tyrone

Oh patchy distribution near Monaghan
The prog from Zen's life you thieved.
You took his Hunted and Dredd conclusion:
Now he's bereft on the EU frontier.
Yep, a cracker of a cover, and the Flint and Williams droids do a grand job yet again.
Where it will all end, I've no idea. But more please.
Not had chance to read the rest yet.

I agree, especially when it isn't that long ago they did the Sector Zero (was that what it was called?) tale of the secret Justice dept. within the Justice dept. Unless this, that and Trifecta are all linked, but the "You aren't willing to do the tough stuff to save the City, Dredd" shtick is a little tiring now, especially given all the hard core things Dredd has done to protect the City over the year.
I've still enjoyed this story though, and I really like Judge Sam.
Rest of the Prog was decent enough. I am enjoying Counterfeit Girl, and that was an intriguing twist, but now someone else mentioned it it is painfully obvious that they explain what's going on at the start of every episode!
Rogue Trooper is good, but does suffer from that curse of prequels in that we know who's likely to die (bounty hunter guy, Dron, the doctor, any other Nort with Atalia) and who'll definitely survive (Rogue, Atalia, TG). always nice to have Rogue back though.
Flesh is ok. Savage too, though not more flipping song lyrics!
Dredd story was good this week but does it looks like they missing few pages, from page with
Smiley
then next page with
assassins
?
Also Reagan like tall blonde men... so should see those clues in early Fresh stories!
Lol, thanks for the gentle dirty Tordel. No need for a temporary digital, IP, nit with wi fi coverage down here. I'd be back in Belfast before it loaded. My younger brother might grab me one in Newry and bring it up. I hope. Z
Funny enough, I took progs 950 - 2005 down home to re-read. The Sector Zero thing confuses me now as it did then. What did Badger and his Sector Zero Judges do for 50 years....sit around with their cocks in their hands? Z
Kind of pleased to see at least some of this thread return to discussion of the comic, instead of criticism of the Royal Mail.
I was hoping for a full resolution of the Dredd story, which the cover seemed to promise, but it's still great stuff. Rogue Trooper still edges past as Best in Prog, IMO, but I'm happy to see RW confirming he will stick with Dredd. I'd like to see more of this story.
Cheers
- Trout
Personally more than happy that Dredd was unresolved. The story was way too short at 3 meagre episodes and the promise of more Williams and Flint makes me very happy.
We even get Dirty Frank cameos among others.

Really? I thought this was the future: every prog review thread a day-by-day report from the Squaxx on the non-arrival of their subs.
Or posts discussing post.

Agree
.
We've now had more posts complaining about posts than there were posts! 1/6 posts on this thread are posts complaining about other posts - which I obviously think is GREAT, otherwise this would be another post complaining about posts.
Anyone else think Bill Savage has gone round the bend, and that all the dog motorbikes and bumping into old ladies with shopping trolleys who turn out to be spymasters are part of the same psychosis that's making him murder Marzes.*
He's been totally Tonto since his wife and kid were run over by a delivery van with a licence plate ending in VLG. Everything since has been a delusion, and the series will end with him in a rubber room, wearing a jacket that fastens up the back.
* As is my understanding of the series title.
Looking forward to the new 'My prog hasn't turned up again' thread in tomorrow.

So is Smiley the villain (http://i.imgur.com/vCKiWw6.jpg)? That would certainly provide some answers to all those questions posed in the aftermath of Trifecta, about why he allowed chaos to reign (http://[url=http://i.imgur.com/M8s4YQX.png) during his twenty years in hiding.
Smiley didn't kill Bachman to save Hershey, he did it to stop her talking (http://i.imgur.com/mH8Zga8.png).

The way I read it, Dredd & pals went along with him initially but they've since grown unhappy with his methods and are now in direct conflict with him.
