Just what is wrong with this website?

I've posted this thread once and it never appeared, spooky eh?  

I just wondered when things were going to get back to normal.

While I don't know why things have suddenly come to a head, I've been trying a few things today to get the site stable again.

One thing I've done is upload a script to close database connections which haven't been used for more than 100 seconds (I think).
