General / 2000ad influence on popular culture
19 September, 2014, 01:34:26 AM
I was thinking about how I got into listening to power metal as a kid and remembered this:

And then I remembered that I still have this!

Where else has Dredd / 2000ad made its presence felt on other forms of media?

General / Was it wrong of Dredd to nuke East Meg One?
27 August, 2014, 02:51:11 PM
Come on, we all cheered at the end of the Apolcalypse War. After all we were kids, we did not realise the horror of Dredd's actions.

And Dredd regrets it now . . . but does he regret what he actually did, or just the chain of events it started?

Was Dredd wrong to nuke East Meg One? And Should he have to pay for it?

General / Who is the Biggest 2000ad fan?
19 August, 2014, 05:24:58 PM
Come on - who is it?

Is it you? Yeah, you over there with the Dredd sandals and Tharg underpants . . . Put some more clothes on and tell me what makes you so great?

How do you define the biggest fan? Someone with all the merchandise? Someone who has appeared in the Prog?

Thoughts . . . .

General / Before 2000ad - Where were they then
09 July, 2014, 12:09:45 AM
I found an old copy of the small press catalogue Bug Powder from 1998 and spotted this review:

I assume it is the same Frazer Irving that we know and love.

It got me wondering what other 2000ad artists / writers did before getting in the Prog and what is available out there, and what is worth seeking out.

I am looking to move a few pieces as something I like has been offered to me - they will generally only be offered for a limited time (while the piece I want is still available) although I will of course consider trades I like! -

John Hicklenton Nemesis from Two Torquemada. Great page signed by John (which is rare to see with his work). Ink on board.

PM me if interested.

I have always wanted to see a special edition of the Judge Dredd film that contained the deleted scenes - I have seen photos of them - the clone fight springs to mind.

Does anyone know what scenes were actually filmed and cut? I assume they were cut to avoid the NC 17 rating, is this correct?

Classifieds / Original Judge Dredd Art by Ashley Wood
27 February, 2014, 01:30:49 PM
I have this massive (A1) airbrushed splash page showing Dredd getting attacked by the Skar Monster (it has the dialogue on acetate). I think this is a real beauty and the photos do not do it justice, but I just don't have the room for it. This needs to go to a good home that can love it more!

Just PM me with offers if interested. And if not, then just enjoy the art!

Classifieds / Some 2000ad Books and comics etc to sell
17 December, 2013, 03:19:21 PM
I am having a clear out and these are all available for sale or trade if anyone is interested. All have been read I will list any specific damage but otherwise they have all been kept safely.

I have suggested prices I would be happy with, but am always open to sensible offers especially if you have a few bits - and if I'm off with the prices just let me know. I have not included post in the prices as it will depend on the weight.

Where I have put offers I have no idea what to ask so the best offer can have it.

All of this stuff needs to go to a good home!

Also interested in exchanges for stuff I have not read by 2000ad creators.

Hi Art Lovers -

Looking to part with this beauty for sale or trade for something else nice - if you are interested PM me and we can chat.

This is TWO great pieces of art by the internationally loved (and nationally loved) artist Sean Phillips.

It's the original painted cover of the JD Megazine Volume 2 issue 9 (1992). It is in oils or acrylics by the look of it, and has been varnished by Sean.

This cover was the second cover featuring Devlin, from his first series, and is the first appearance of Devlin as a Vampire. It looks a lot more impressive in the flesh than it was printed (and my crap camera photos do not do it justice). The main piece is painted on board approx 15" x 22" (38cm x 56 cm) (HUGE).

Detail Scan so that you can see the brushwork.

ALSO INCLUDED is the printed version. This was edited for the Meg cover by Sean to have a more Dave McKean-esque feeling. And he did this by copying the cover, putting it onto board and adding the leaves, additional effects and lots of gold leaf to the page. This was to set out where the Megazine title would go.
This is a frame worthy piece in itself! It is approx 16" x 20" (40.2 cm x 50.8 cm) size (HUGE).

Photo of them side by side:

Here is the cover as printed-

I would like them both to stay together as I don't usually like like breaking things up.

Classifieds / ART FOR SALE!
10 August, 2013, 10:34:03 PM
Yes - due to strange circumstances I have to sell some of my art.

I have the following pages that I will have to part with (cannot bear to part with anything else in my collection though at the moment)

The photos are not that great, but they are all lovely pages and will be available until I have got enough money to pay for the secret thing that I need to pay for. Then they will no longer be for sale again. But if you like them and want to make an offer drop me a PM.

Thanks for looking guys!

News / Dredd in the News
29 July, 2013, 01:56:13 PM
I am not sure if we have a thread for when Dredd hits the mainstream news - but here is a reference from the BBC today:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23455774

'The vision even spread to comics. Chief Judge Cal in Judge Dredd was based on Hurt's version of the emperor - and appropriately enough Cal really did make his pet goldfish Deputy Chief Judge.'

General / Original 2000ad Scripts Thread
22 July, 2013, 12:47:26 AM
Well, we have the original art thread, but not yet an original scripts thread!

For all you 2000ad fans who like to see the creative process here is the original script from Leviathan's Farewell - one of my favourite Anderson stories and one for which I own all the original art. This was written by that writer of 2000ad classics Alan Grant.  :P

Does anyone else have any old scripts?

General / Judge Dredd Poster Prog 2

Does anyone have a photo of the actual poster from this one by Ezquerra? I wanted to show someone something on it but sold my copy ages ago.

Thanks!

Hi All,

Although it pains me to do, I made a pact with myself that I would not hoard original art that I am not going to hang on my wall. So I have decided to list a few bits this week (time permitting) at bargain prices!

I have just listed some anderson pencils by Cliff Robinson http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261179203854?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 but if you are interested Ill update this when I list more.

I will also be putting up more 2000ad stuff, general nerdy junk and some amazing cds!

My thanks go with you for looking.

Skully
