Here's the final product, managed to get eight writers to tell eight different stories. What's interesting is that even though there was a ot of repitition of themes (dictated by the artwork I guess), there is a nice variation of styles here.

Hello all, for anyone still wondering about this, I've had a lot of really good ideas sent to me and I was wondering about actually using all of the scripts and putting all of them together in some kind of free download anthology thing. It might be interesting to see all the different versions side by side for comparison.

If anyone wants to have a go at producing a script I'll go ahead and letter your version of the pages and I'll get back to you once it's ready for distribution. You will of course be credited and free to share the finished product as you please. I do not intend to make any money from this at all and the collected anthology will be available for download on whatever platforms I can find that will have it.

Hi, I've got four pages of a story that I started but never really got around to finishing. I'm now moving on to other projects and was thinking that I would try and put the pages to use somehow.

I'm not looking to pay or get paid, just thought it would be kind of interesting to see what other people could come up with.

My new comic, Defiant is being launched a The Comics Festival, Birmingham this weekend. I can't make it there myself but Andy Winter will be there to sign copies and chat. Here's what it's all about:

On August 10, 991AD, a fleet of 93 Viking longships containing 3,000 men sailed up the River Pant in Essex to the fortified town of Maldon. Led by the king of Denmark himself – Sweyn Forkbeard – the Norsemen aimed to ransack the town, kill as many of its inhabitants as they could and, most importantly, raid the Royal Mint stationed there.

Brithnoth, an old soldier who was also the Earl of Essex and one of the most powerful men in England, assembled a small army and prepared to stand defiant against the coming onslaught. His deeds that day would be immortalised in a famous poem – The Battle of Maldon – and continue to cause furious debate more than a thousand years later...

I'm selling on account of having been offered a second hand Cintiq as an incredible price I couldn't turn down.

The Lenovo is actually a duel touch monitor (responds to touch and a stylus) but has Wacom digitiser technology and is a great, affordable alternative to a Cintiq. Included in the sale is a Bamboo Feel Stylus as the original stylus is useless for drawing.

PROS:
Half the price of a Cintiq 13HD!
Great response, no lag and calibration is spot on.
Nice solid construction. Feels sturdy and has loads of secures positions. Pretty much from 0 to 80 degrees.
Screen is nice and bright and there's no loss of viewing quality from different angles.
No tangled mess of cables. One output from the monitor goes in to two USB ports.

CONS:
Resolution not as good as Cintiqs.
Took a bit of playing around with drivers and settings to make it work properly.
Requires a USB 3.0 port so not suitable if you don't have one.
Stylus is a joke. It's 11cm in length and about 0.6cm diameter. I'm going to have to buy a new stylus.
I've read that there are some issues around the pressure sensitivity but I haven't really used it enough to notice and as I said, I'll be buying a new stylus which may change any problems there.

Overall, as an alternative to the Cintiq I'm perfectly happy with it! Once I start to really draw digitally with it I'll be in a better position to judge tit's suitability.

I've had a go on Bobs (oo-er missus) but you don't really get a real idea of the whole experiance. I'll just have to take the plunge and hope for the best.

I'm currently at a point where I have the 'means' to invest in something like a Cintiq. I'm was all set on buying one of these until I realised my computer wouldn't support it:

I'm also consider the Yiynova 19 MSPU, similar price to a Cintiq 13HD but with a bigger active area.

Thing is though, I'd really want to try it out before I commit that much cash but it's not like you ever see these things in shops.

Anyone had any experience or knows anything about these:

Pretty much half the price of a Cintiq 13HD, they basically look like touchscreen monitors with a pressure sensitive pen that runs on Wacom tech. Looking at some reviews on line it seems they have a few problems with drivers but I was really wondering if anyone know if they're a good alternative to a Cintiq or good for drawing comics?

Is that Alan Moore on page 2?

I use the 0.5mm in a Pentel mechanical pencil and they do take some getting used to. I had a few false starts with the blue lead but use them all the time now. You just have to take on a lighter touch and accept that they're not that good for shading or hatching.

I've never produced very tight pencils so they work well for me and I know of other people who then use graphite on top of the loose blue line which works for them.

you have to ask yourself if it's worth changing your penciling style for the sake of not rubbing them out at the end.
