I sent the guy a message. He genuinely seems just a bit of a dope. He thought he had a real gem, as he couldn't find out anything about it online. He inherited about 40 old comics and thought he was on to a winner.

I informed him that a thousand pounds is a bit high, cos it's only worth 4 or 5 quid if he was lucky.

He said when I told him the more realistic price, his wife laughed her head off at him.

Bless him. See he's ammended the price to a tenner, now. Still too high, imo.
If your prepared to hang about you can pick up NM copies of these early specials for not quite a fiver.

A great Mongrul sketch by Henry Flint:

Although I suspect Sideshow Bob will be most upset if anyone bids on this apart from him  :)

Sideshow Bob

Wow !!...
Hadn't seen that up for Sale, SimeonB...
( Don't know how I missed that....!!??, as I check eBay a lot !!)...

Ah, glad I posted it then! Calling it a sketch is a bit like calling the Mona Lisa a doodle. It's really detailed. Hope you bag it, Bob.

But when, oh when, will a Shakara appear...

Sideshow Bob

Thanks SimeonB,

I hadn't seen this when trawling through eBay on my 'regular' basis....
It wasn't in the 2000AD art category but was in the Original Art category.....Which was why I'd missed it......Many Thanks for alerting me to this........as I managed to pick it up for the very, very good price of £14.25 including postage....

A signed, Henry Flint sketch of Mongrol, for only £14.25 !!....Now that has got to be a bargain in anyone's book..... :D

Will stick it up on my CAF page when it arrives..
Cheers

This is really a most excellent 'thread'....
A place where boarders, alert fellow boarders to eBay items that 'others' in the forum might fancy....

Not many places on T'Internet show this same generosity of spirit...
What a great forum this is to be a part of...
Cheers.... :D

There's a pair of nice Steve Dillon Dredd pages (City of the Damned) up on eBay:

Really nice art and fairly sought-after, I'd imagine; will be interesting to see how high these go.

These pages are particularly appealing to me as they're from the Dredd story that was running when I started getting the Prog on a weekly basis.
The first page quoted above ("Lets Ride!") is an astonishing example of Dillon's work.

My max bid of STG£300 was surpassed last night, and I am well & truly gutted.

An early Dredd page has popped up on eBay. A Ron Turner from Prog 11

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290930971551

And sold for a tasty £536.99. Anyone on here snag it?
I suspect there will be more pages to come from this story, and this seller.

Simon Beigh

Assume this page went for a more than the last Turners to appear on eBay?

hippynumber1

Roughly he same Simeon; the only one I recall NOT breaking the £500 barrier was the first one he listed (but my memory is notoriously unreliable)!

Spikes

Yep, think that the bulk of those pages went for around the £500 mark.

And just checking to see if he's listed any more pages (not as yet) i see yet another nice copy of Prog 2 with stickers has turned up.

Just over six days left to run, and only one bid at present.
