Hahahaha... I remember how he was slaughtered for his "dodgy American accent" when he first appeared. Laughably, the dissenters were that busy looking for faults in the show (a hobby for some it would seem) that they failed to realise that it was indeed his natural accent and not put on at all.

Mind you, we could all be fed up with Welsh accents in about 8 or 9 weeks time!  ;)

....and someone else paints their opinion as fact.

Alternatively, the most succesful, exciting, and brilliant new, British program (imho) of the last few years has spawned a spin-off series, and if you've seen the new Doctor Who, you'll be hoping that it's half as good, and if it it'll be well worth a watch.

All imho, of course!  ;)

Well, despite the fact that I disagree with Paul on Doctor Who (I love the show), I do think it's ironic that the worst episode of new Who is probably the one written by the Life on Mars writer!

Without opening up the Who debate again, I will say that Who is only a disappointment to you (and some others of course) Paul, but as a general rule, the show's been a massive hit and not a disappointment at all!

Back OT tho, i'm glad they're finishing it (LoM). It's a series that is restricted in premise and would soon become tiresome if over stretched. It needs a resolution, and well done to them for deciding to give us one.

"Also, how could he be Robin of Locksley, Earl of Hungtindon? That'd make him Robin of Huntingdon."

Well, and of course we are talking about a fictional character here, but one of the arguments supporting the claim that Robin was from Sheffield (it was the Sherrif who was from Nottingham) is that he was born in Loxley (not far from Hillsborough) and not Locksley (there isn't a town/village in England with that spelling as far as i'm aware), which was near/on lands owned by the Earl of Huntingdon in the time period the stories are set!

Oh, and I too thought the show was pants! Everything I feared when the show was announced came true. From the modern speech and haircuts/makeup/clothing to the awful direction and cinematic choices, to the school panto acting.

Truly, truly woeful!

Do yourselves a favour and buy the Michael Praed dvd's and watch that instead!

"I remember asking Alan Barnes why we weren't getting foriegn lang. reprints. The reason given was that when you add in buying rights, translation costs, etc its actually virtually the same as an original black and white strip. Which kinda defeats the point of doing reprint."

I'd agree with that if you do indeed consider it to be a reprint, but for most here it would be the first time that they'd seen it. The trick is perhaps to put it in the slot given to a new strip rather than the reprint slot. I know I would mind, even tho I already have the first 4 parts! The strip really does scream 2000AD imho!

I have done that very thing with books 1 & 2, but book 3 appears to have been discontinued, so I got the Heavy Metal reprint.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, with similar reservations to most Overplayed at times (the series biggest weakness for me) but still had some amazing moments and great one liners. As to Catherine Tate, well i'll wait and see. Seems similar to the Richard Wilson appearance last year, and that all worked out fine.

Personally I can't wait! Even the poorer episodes are head and shoulders above most other things on tv! Roll on the announcment for series 4 (should be any time soon)!

Funilly enough I had the exact same conversation this morning going home from work and pretty much said exactlyu the same.

Poseidon... Wicker Man... The Omen....even kong. What's the point in remaking them. It's just lazy movie moguls goiong for an easy buck. It's worked once, it'll work again is the attitude. Just lob in plenty of cgi explosions and we don't even need to bother with a sript... no one will notice!

Maybe it's just us old crusties that don't get it, eh Bou, but gimme crap effects, black 7 white even, as long as it's got the heart and soul that te original versions of these films had but the modern counterparts tend to lack.

He was public enemy # 1 for parking tickets. Hardly the sort of thing yer average squaddie is going to be looking for.

Phew... quite a response!  ;)

Bent Progs/Damaged items. Yeah, well you should complain as the items shouldn't be bent and damaged. That said, were they packaged properly, the postie wouldn't be able to fold 'em!  ;)

Amazon packages. Now this is a different kettle of fish. Many Amazon packages (especially the one's where you go for free postage options) and other online shops aren't actually delivered by Royal mail, but by private couriers. It's just possible (and in some cases probable) that you're blaming Royal Mail when they've had nothing to do with it.

If however it is a Royal Mail delivery, then they should not be left outside your door/in a bin etc under any circumstances and you should report any cases of this to your local PDO.

Wet Progs. believe me it's impossible to keep paper dry in heavy rain. Hold them in your hand and they get wet through. Keep everything in your bag and they get wet through because you're constantly in and out of the bag for said mail.

The only way round this is for Rebellion to send them out in plastic envelopes, and if these were hardbacked then it would also cut down on most cases of bent progs too!

Believe me guys, you don't have to tell me. I haven't done a delivery in years but know the score and i do see what goes on on the inside of the postal service. Remember, as well as being an employee, I too am a customer and there's no one who complain's more when a prog/item is damaged, but quite often the complaints aren't neccesarily Royal Mail's fault. They just get the blame by people with a misunderstanding of the asthetics of the industry.

Gotta hold my hands up regarding the red elastic bands tho!  ;)
