Vark I only started 2000AD at Christmas after a wee break of 30 years. I read the original series but is the new trade understandable for a newbie? I would have bought the complete Savage that preceded it but it is only going for big money and hasn't been re-printed.

I'm probably not the best person to answer this because I haven't read yet the stories featuring in this particular book (Savage has not been translated in French and I was not a 2000AD subscriber at that time).

Although I've read the Invasion GN and the Savage Taking Liberties GN, and I can say that the new direction of the series has nothing to do with the Invasion strips (it's way way more exciting and dark). So if I were you I would still try to put my hand on the first Savage GN before reading this one.

The only Savage stories I've ever read are the most recent two to appear in the Prog, so Books 6 and 7, and I've managed to understand whats going on perfectly well so you should be ok with this trade.

Have to say that this is a trade I've been quite looking forward too. Savage is always one of those strips which I forget just how good it is when its not in the Prog.

I know! I really don't know where I had my mind. This forum is all about spines.

Yeah, I had a browse and see it's going for £20+. I have to say, in my opinion it's worth it. It's absolutely brilliant.
