Come on, it's beautiful special effects film!

Not to get drawn into another debate about Prometheus, but so what?

All the special effects in the world can't make a bad script good or a bad film worth watching.
There's more to a FILM than a SCRIPT. ;)

Why are you watching it if you don't like it?
Masochism?

I think I'm just loathe to admit its growing on me. I have chuckled quietly on a couple of occasions.
I can get you some cream for that. ;)

GOTG looks silly.  A film about a roguish space captain, a farm boy, their furry companion, a token girlie, and maybe a robot or two in battle with an evil galactic empire will never be embraced by the general public.
You got your lol, now leave.

QuoteI'd sooner hear what Pat Mills, John Wagner or Mick McMahon has to say, than someone off the telly that used to buy the prog in their youth.

That's one person who may be upset then

Dredd- Davidson has a touch of the ole' McMahon doesn't he? Very strong debute and I look foreward to next week. Am I the only one thinking of Dead World acultist? Anyway, belting little story from GRennie and nice to see he's establishing a returning cast again after his hiatus. That scene with Hamida talking to Imam was very well done and I actualy didn't see that twist coming despite it being an mid page turn. Over all, a cracking little tale.

Dandridge- Is jolly good fun. A bit old school but, hey, it's FUN at least. Nice art, solid little yarn yet probably going to show signs of tearing. Glad to have it but it's the lesser of the regulare line up at the moment.

Survival Geeks- Now if a trilogy of 3rillers was commisioned based around these four i wouldn't complain, in a longer serial though? I can see it becoming a bit of a grind. For what it's worht though, i've grown to like the heroes Simon, Sam, Rufus and Clive quite a bit. Solid little tale but not a classic, just a bit charming.

Stickleback- Is pushing all the right buttons. A dandy tale that has great scope and yet is confined to a single setting, a deffinite antagonist hidden in the shadows and a more ominent, monsterous threat iminent and drama from our primery and secondary cast. Of cause, we know Stickle Jr. is going to be just fine, but his father even in a fresh, new body, he's in quite a predicoment. Mrs. Scarlet is a typicle fem-rogue at the moment yet I do feel she's quite honest in her loyalty to both The Empress and Stickleback, so she's at the least not a smarmy feme-fetal backstaber which is a nice change. Oh and the art. D'Israeli, can I have your babies? I adore this art work perhapse a bit to much. Everything about it suits my tatse, it's fluent yet solid and each character is easily recognisable. The textures are varied and the angle of each panel allows for maximus use of space ether for scene setting or character detail. Solid, exceptional and quite delightful.

Zombo- Did I smoke something, or did this just get wierd? I'll go for the latter, but holy sweet zombie jesus on a fossilised penus! I can't really put into words this weeks instalment because....jesus, it really is one of the phenomena where you have to read it to believe it. But I loved it, oh hell yes I loved it.

Prognosis*? Not a dud in the lot, 5/5 and top stuff all round. :)

*Shoot me.

Thats lovely! Great use of colour contrast.

Question time! Starting to use gimp and finding it a great tool, but the feel of using a mouse is...off putting. Can anyone reccomend me a good (but relativly cheap) USB and/ or Blue Tooth enabled table with pen that is compatible with gimp?

Hmmmm, RIP, 'a man.'

When driving back from the beach with my little girl just now there was a bunch of police cars next to the train tracks. I stupidly looked and am pretty sure I saw a headless body.

It was a fleeting glance but I can't get it out of my brain, got awful butterflies too. Poor bloke.
How horrible.  :-\

To call Kermoda an idiot just because he thinks contrary to your own opinions is a bit on the nose. The guy is a lovely chap, chated to him previously about the role of the BBFC in todays society and he's very well versed. And, unlike Roger Moore or Tookey who clearly had an axe to grind with the ethos of the movie and didn't do anything to hide it, Kermode highlighted some of the movies down points, a few of which I agree with. Dredd has become one of my all time favorite movies yet even then it is not above scrutiny. Indeed, it's imperfections just happen to make it an even better film as it is unashemed of it's blemishes and run's with them, unlike The Dark Knight Rises, for example, which ignores it's faults and develop into metaphorical blisters, creating the mess of a film we ended up with. Kermode might have been expercionate of Dredd's negatives, but at least he acknowledged tham and enjoyed the film the second time around despite this.

Question. Do we know what's replacing Survival Geeks next week yet?
Defoe I assumed.
