He's back and he's bad! (at answering questions).
After memorable stints on First Class (1987 - 1 win 1 loss), Weakest Link (2008 - win) and 15-1 (2014 - 4th, 1st & 2nd) our favourite (well mine at any rate) game show contestant returns for four shows on the tea time Quiz !mpossible.
The series starts on Monday with the venerable B'man showing up on Tuesday the 27th for as many shows as it takes to get the elusive jackpot - you come back each day until you get a crack at the final or when the block ends on the Friday. With a total of 24 contestants it'll be a tall order - tune in and see if his comments about 2000ad make the cut!
Don't worry this thread will be endlessly bumped and I'll live comment on the Wednesday episode as I'm off work and I like to irritate people!
Not having access to BBC1 - how did you do on the Tuesday episode?
Not allowed to say! Will say that I'm on the Wednesday one too!
Can't you mask your isp and watch it via the BBC iPlayer if you are overseas? Theoretically of course, I wouldn't condone such activities.
unfortunately I have a prior appointment sticking pins in my eyes....
well? save me the trouble, what happened?
FFS! Next Tuesday Tom! Set your alarm for 5.15 on the 24th and wake up all refreshed for the exciting action! I do two rounds on books and literature. That should be up your street, what with your sweeping up at the library gig.
Break a leg!

Ah, misread the date - I asked on the Wednesday how the Tuesday episode had gone, but got the week wrong!
Ah bollix, I thought there was a series of Button Man in production. Still, next best thing I suppose

Exactly what I thought.
My disappointment knows no bounds.
You recorded the episodes already?

Yes, they will filmed last October - and I can guarantee excitement! Or a least me bantering with the host in a series of bad shirts. (him, not me).

...a series of bad shirts.
A series implying a number of instances greater than two, mmmmmm? Confidentiality clause slipping there, BM?
Next week... next bloody week... NEXT WEEK.... I'm not sure if I'll be able to put up with Rick Edwards introducing that show again having tried to spot you FIVE TIMES just now!
How hard is this people?! (ooh-er)
It's on Tuesday coming (ooh-er again) the 24th.
I am billed as 'Steve' (they already had a 'Steven') - didn't matter that I use the correct spelling.
I am in the top right corner and will appear in all 4 shows Tuesday - Friday - will I get to the final? Will I get to the final final?
Tune in and see.
Or check this thread in a week for a blow by blow account. (ooh-er again again)
What show is this? Will it be on iPlayer?
'Cos I'll fucking delete it from that too.
Is this over?
You guys!
I know it's difficult but just two more sleeps til Tuesday!
Right. Has everyone remembered to set their series link before they go to bed? Remember for the following four nights YOU can come home to the Buttonman. Please keep your trousers on at all times - I'll see!
Is there a red button(man) option?
Yes Steve : a Director's commentary option where I reveal who was a right bastard an what I ate in the BBC canteen.
Subtitles. That's what I want!
They should not let foreigner on the show!
WTF are you saying?
GOOD GRUD but that was sexy...

Isn't that
a spoiler? It means you didn't get to the final on Tuesday (which anyone who saw today's show knows), Weds or Thurs - otherwise you wouldn't be back.
So not being in BBC iPlayer land, nor having any desire to engage in VPN/IP fakery, am I more likely to find this on PornHub or X-Hamster?

Maybe it's a big bluff and I'm sitting here on a throne made out of £1 coins! Easier to say that I'm on til Friday - if I win or get bombed out today you'll know you don't need to bother with Thursday or Friday!
It's about to start and I am online for as it happens slaggings!
It seems your Beyonce lore is limited. Not a great source of shame, mind you.
I got a Sasha Fierce question wrong on 15-1 too!
Having a dig at Rick - nice work!

Having said that - I wonder if I can view it on work computers (during breaks, obviously).
Just showing off now...Good on yer BM!
Yes! It worked! (and so did the subtitles) Not knowing the format - does this mean that
there's no point watching Friday's episode? I won't be able to watch tomorrow's episode as I have a prior engagement
Aaargh! Nail-biting stuff, thought you had it there.

.
Today's episode is available on iPlayer for 28 days. You can even download it and watch it offline.
Sorry let's try that again. Tomorrow's episode will be available for 29 days and
and those who don't make it to the final from the "play off"get to come back the next day.
Magnetica is correct on all counts - there is no excuse not to watch the excitement. Good taste is not an excuse! I won't spoil anything but record Thursday and Friday's episodes as they may (do) both contain some solid B'man action.
Well done Steve(n) Awkward hugs not withstanding!
Nae quick enough on the buzzer today!
Just watching it now - MARVEL comics!?! For shame!!!
Big 2000ad chat tomorrow where I make a tit of myself in a literature round. Tune in at 5.15 for all the action!
If you have the time I would be interested to learn about the experience of being on one of these shows.
Like, did they film it all in one day? Do they pay your expenses, put you up in a hotel, that sort of thing.
Just curious.
And well done!
So what was the verdict on the Thursday episode? I'll have a go at watching in my lunch hour at work, but not sure if catch-up TV works here. Let's hope work isn't too bad at 17:15 tonight!
Finally found a Scotch Bar showing the game - the atmosphere!* There's no feeling like watching such a clash of the titans live.
Liking this Taoiseach round! I'm so glad Dan has a vote.
*May be my living room.

Well, I guess we're getting some more photos of burgers then...
I actually feel a bit bad for him. His wee sad face at losing £9,200 over Marleybone.
Only a bit tho.
Aw, tough luck mate! I was screaming Marylebone at the screen, but fecked if I'd have got Fenchurch St! Great job getting that far, you're smarter than you look.
Well done. £800! Not to bit sniffed at!
Well done, the demolishing of the competition was like a Pat Mills nature run amok strip.
Well done.

Thanks fellas - feel like going to Marlebone and burning it down! Actually guessed the question when it came up and had it nailed - for some reason my mind wandered and I though 'What's the other one? Oh Kings Cross is that there? No but Charing Cross is - say that instead'!
They film this in Glasgow about 20 minutes from my house so I think that's how I get on - cheap expenses! Although I was local after I filmed my first show they insisted on putting me up in the hotel - Crowne Plaza across from the BBC. I was a fill in contestant but the others were on for 10 shows and had a few days at the hotel to bond - I felt a bit of an interloper especially after getting to 3 finals in a row!
They film 4 shows a day and each takes about 2.5 hours - I had a lot of banter at (thankfully) didn't make the cut. You have a 'green room' where you get dressed and they have snacks for you to graze on. For lunch you get a £7.50 voucher for the BBC canteen.
Rick was friendly but you don't see him off set - apart from the wrap party which was cheese and wine.I got the cheque straight after the show and it was spent many months ago. I know from Badcityblue (Alan) that on ITV quizzes you only get paid when the show airs.
All in all a fun experience - they are recruiting for Season 5 so get your applications in!

Blimey. Not sure how any 90s pub quiz machine afficianado could get that one wrong. The nerves have gone!
Well done BM :)
You made the most of that... last question felt there for the taking but I daresay those shiny quid coins looming over you wouldn't help your train of thought.
I like the idea that between shows everyone changes clothes to keep up the pretence :-X

Maintaining that illusion must be the only reason the presenter wears that gear. He looks like he's being styled by someone who's never used
clothes before.
Buttonman now regrets only ever playing Star Wars Monopoly.
Yeah you get herded back to the dressing room between shows to change outfits. They have dressers who pick an outfit from your assembled wardrobe so that they have a balance - wouldn't do for everyone to be wearing red, for example.
They are quite picky- no stripes or dots that could strobe on screen and no labels. They also said no writing but I saw people get on with 'Bazinga' t-shirts and the like.

As a non-Brit this was something that struck me: do Scotches not have their own monopoly boards? We did have an ancient dogeared London version of my grandparents when I was very young, but by far the more common board to play in the late 70s and 80s was an Irish one, and I had thought the original early-century version was Atlantic City or somewhere, with the rest of us getting our own versions after WWII.
So was all of Britain subject solely to the streets (and train stations) of That London, to the point that this was the 'canonical' board?

The only properties would be council flats, they'd all cost £1, and if anyone bought one the other players would tut disapprovingly at them for perpetuating Thatcher's legacy.
It's fitting that this discussion should take place on a thread celebrating a latter-day Rachman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Rachman).
aha! Had a look at that link you posted Frank.

 Doubt Keeler and Rice-Davies got their deposit back on that place. The factor would be steam cleaning crusted flakes out of the carpets and drapery for months after they left.
