(I'm showing my age here)

Did anyone else catch the Pipkins Hartley Hare cameo in in Leatherjack?

Obviously you're not a golfer.

Y'know, I was ignoring that reference until someone else outed themselves as an old bastard. :-p

Of course, I have only the very vaguest memory of Pipkins. Perhaps I saw a repeat.

Funt Solo

I did spot the reference, but I didn't know where from.  He always was an ugly toothy bastich:  nothing's changed.

That's what's odd about Leatherjack:  on the one hand you've got this modern space opera with it's ant-planet, a despot and a cyber-assassin with amnesia, and on the other you've got Mary Whitehouse clones in literally shaped scissor-ships, Hartley bloody Hare and tons of known Earth book references.

Now it turns out the whole denoument may be played out on Earth.  Obviously a deliberate ploy on the part of the author, but a strange choice.  I find myself trying to ignore those bits and just get on with the corking sci-fi story that underpins the whole thing.

I thought it was a link to Harvey the 6ft hare or Donny Darko when I read this last Leaterjack episode.

Do we have to read it in a brummie accent?
