Ok, but then why not just have regular judges doing all of that?

I don't agree with that; cadets are cooped up in the Academy most of the time. Focusing on the citizens would be the best way of showing us the city.
I've always got Gotham (the TV series) in my head - based around the precinct, but we get to see the underworld, plus Bruce and Selina's lives.  Rather than full-on Academy, perhaps there could be final year cadets assigned to a Sector House, doing assignments, going on hot dog runs, etc?

Though saying that, I don't like the Cursed Earth appearing too early in works based on JD - witness the 1995 film and IDW's forays.  It's basically taking one of the best characters (MC1) and ditching it for half an hour.
Yes, that's what I meant (& should have said). Cadets fresh out of the academy on their first assignment.

There's certainly scope - not too sure about what the canon says about newly-graduated cadets (I suspect little or nothing), but it would make sense for there to be some sort of probation period until they get in to the swing of things.  Having said that, I think the end of The Academy of Law (the story which introduced Judge Giant Senior) had the words "see you on the streets", suggesting the moment your graduate you're treated exactly like any other street judge.  Kraken's post-injection depiction was along the same lines (though obviously they had to pretend he was Dredd).

Because it's easier to introduce viewers to a series if the protagonist(s) are also knew to the area portrayed - which is why Jim Gordon transfers to the precinct in Gotham, why Alex Murphy does the same in RoboCop, (partially) why Lawson transfers to Badrock in Lawless, why King Monkey goes off to heaven, and any number of other examples from books, film, comics and television.

Richard

Ok that makes sense, but it might make people think it's just a retread of the 2012 film plot, which (as you know) was about a rookie judge.

Or . . . they could introduce the Big Meg by way of a shopping trip. Thirteen episodes of it. To set up 'The Judge Child Quest' and 'The Apocalypse War' for Seasons Two and Three respectively (but remembering to go easy with the futuristic lingo by then).

Despite critical acclaim, there'll be no Season Four.
Not sure if pervert or cheesecake expert.

Genuinely excited now

Wonder who the character from the computer game is?

Nice to hear Urban is their first choice and that the Lawmaster is a priority!

I could listen to Jason and Brian talking about the TV series all day-they make a great double act!  :)

Great interview. Really excited about this but also think Brian would be great as Fred Flinstone in a live action Flintstones tv show!

Were there many characters in the computer game?  They said not the obvious one, so that rules out that they were talking about Dredd and Death.

Spotted this on the news just now, it's part of a training centre for the fire service, but it's like having your own mini Pete Wells block in rural Gloucestershire...

There's a similar training centre on the South bank of the Thames (can't remember precisely where it is, but probably out as far as Kent), used by the Met for urban exercises.

Gravesend, Kent.  The top left corner of the estate (the bit that doesn't have car parks in it) has been used for riot training and the like.
