I just remember it as kind of freaky and disturbing. I seriously doubt it's stood the test of time, or that it will even be scary now, but when I was a little kid it was definitely not appropriate reading material.

Have to agree with that. I remember as a kid only sort of half reading the story, maybe it was scary, maybe I just didn't get or maybe I just saw it as filler at the time.
Have an urge now to go dig out the old progs and give it a go.

I confess I bought four sequential issues with Return To Armaggedon in them on eBay. They're in the post, apparently. I have very vivid memories of the hero having half his face melted. Maybe I'll be back here to say it's not that good after all.

Trout

Right. I've read those progs. There turned out to be just three with Return to Armageddon but... woah. That's mental.

I'd totally forgotten there were zombies in it. It's pretty gory, too. Drawn by an artist with a cleaner style, this stuff would have been banned!

I don't know what the overall story quality was, but in terms of shocks and horror this strip is the dog's bollocks. I would queue up for a reprint.

For anyone whose not listened to Keith Richardson on the Podcast Return to Armageddon is finally due a reprinted. Currently on the schedule for next year.

Yeah, there was a lot of good stuff in the podcast, but that was definitely one of the highlights!  Can't wait to read this again; it's been far too long.

Excellent news. Now can we begin lobbying for a Complete MACH One?

QuoteDo you know if there was a reason for the Quality reprints of DD starting halfway through rather than from the start?
I cant speak for Mr Skinn, the DD reprints started under his stewartship of Quality, but was there a bit of snobbery towards Belardinelli, Rendondo and even Ezquerra in the early Titan reprints of 2000ad material?
I've definitely heard that about Belardinelli and Redondo before, hence Titan not printing Nemesis bk 2 and piles of Slaine stories, but never Ezquerra. Interesting.

Probably in part due to the fact that Titan were UK based and would rather get the art of their mates into the books.
It's a joke. I was joking.

O Lucky Stevie!

C'mon! What growing lad could take one look at those spacesuits & not have a brand new favourite artist?

Stevie's worshipped at the altar of this particular Jesus since Planet Killers in '77.

So much so that when Stevie read his copy The Complete Alan Moore Future Shocks[/b he found that it was the stories by Redondo, as well as Mike White, were the ones where he remembered every single panel.

Care to summarise for those of us who can't listen to the podcast? I'll definitely be buying one of these whatever else happens.

Return to Armageddon seems to be on the cards for 2014.

Other than that, off the top of my head:
Sooner or Later - possibly turning up in an anthology next year (bit vague, I know).
Daily Star Dredd book is on the way (still sourcing film, etc.).
Some kind of Sci-Fi Thrillers anthology book is in the works (December?  B&W stuff like Tribal Memories, XTNCT, Family, Universal Soldier, Visible Man).

People with better memories than me might help with more details...

Sooner or Later seem's very timely for your's truely! Between that and Return to Armageddon 2014 is already very exciting. :)
