35 years ago this month squaxx dek thargo witnessed the birth of one of 2000 AD's most enduring characters: ROGUE TROOPER
So this month to honour this glorious occasion we'll wander the chem-choked lands of the battered Nu Earth and pay tribute to the greatest genetic infantryman ever grown! His full history and lineage is open to you - from the legendary beginnings, to 1990s "FRIDAY" reboot, to Mercy Height's Tor Cyan and right up into the sadly short-lived IDW series. The wider world is fascinating but lets focus purely on the blue chaps.
There will be a GN straight from the nerve centre for the winner of course, and one for Tharg's Choice - and there will also be a bonafide 2000 AD droid choosing their favourite entries! All entries will be viewable here, on our dedicated FB page, and also on the official 2000 AD Tumblr and Twitter!
Rules for the art comp are these:
- It must fit the theme.
- You can enter as many times as you like but bear in mind it will split your vote so it may not be worth it.
- All entries have to be constructed specifically for this competition - so nothing you've done for anything else.
- You can enter either here or by directly putting it on our FB wall here: https://www.facebook.com/2000adartcomp/
YOU HAVE UNTIL THE 25TH OF SEPTEMBER WHERE WE SHALL KILL THE VOTING TRAITOR GENERAL
Ooh. Original Rogue, like Dredd, is one of the few characters I can draw straight out of my head, without having to scuttle off to the Internet for reference. Such a great design.
Agree 100%; there was nothing quite like Rogue before him. The Friday redesign was a great idea for the Gibbons / Simpson one-off, but should have been quietly shelved after that.
As with J. Alpha, to those about to attempt to draw Rogue's bumpy helmet, I salute you!
Okay it my first try...

First Dredd, now even Helm is kosher, or a least riding with the top down. Zionist plot, I tells ya.
Once seen, cannot be unseen :o
Goaty, you are Simon Davies, and I claim my five pounds... ;)
Also, thats a great image Goaty. (Should really have said that before :-[)

Nic pic, Goaty! (yes, I said 'pic' :D )
Rogue is one of my favourite characters. I wouldn't be surprised if I submitted several entries...

Both submissions are great Bren, I especially like your second - it really captures the Nu Earth atmosphere.
Lots of time to meddle, but if time escapes me, here is my entry

Thanks Rogue Judge :) that's good to know. I have at least another two ideas for submissions. Rogue is one of my favorite characters since I was a juve. I might wait a while, other life priorities are starting to make themselves known.
Thanks for the feedback too!
Leigh S, that entry is awesome! I love the composition and the detail :D
Having the black hole as the Traitor General's bad eye is a stroke of genius.

ROUGE TROOPER
Excuse the terrible pun, but this has been drawn during my break-times on the past 2 night shifts, and all I have had available has been a red biro. Hence Rouge not Rogue!!
Nice image, and not enough biros in my opinion (genuinely) !
Cheers Fungus, I like using biros myself but I was stuck with as single red biro with a scratchy tip so was not as pleasurable to use. I do use biros a lot for sketching and doing rough comic page layouts.
Posted again as think I prefer this version to the other colours less harsh on the scanning.

Lovely van but doesn't count I'm afraid - it's got to have been drawing specifically for the comp!
That van is awesome! Im a motorcycle enthusiast and am planning to build a Lawmaker out of an old 84 Harley Shovelhead bike. Its not going to be exact, but Im planning on including the main features to make it recognizable as Dredds bike. Cheers
Due to life, I've not been able to spend as much time as I'd like on this and I've had to cut corners, and, well, not paint it as much as I'd like... Anyway, here's Rogue and his boys...

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum and I heard about this competition on Tumblr. I thought I'd give it a shot because Rogue Trooper is one of my favorite characters from 2000AD. I tried to add some color to the lineart, but I ended up liking it just in black and white, as a little nod to the original artstyle of the comic :) Hope you like it, cheers!

It's also made me nostalgic for the days when I used to sketch with a biro.
Once again, it's proving to be an amazing month for fantastic artwork! Seems to be more vibrantly colourful this month, which is to be expected given our blue dude...!

The intent was to colour my entry but to avoid missing the comp yet again I fired it up a couple of pages ago... anyway, here's Rogue in his traditional blue, please bin the original. Ta CFM.

Greetings! Edward Whatley here. This is my entry into the September art competition and my first post here at the 2000 AD message board. I'm including a link to my entry because I'm having trouble figuring out how to post an image. If anyone could advise me on how to include the image in a message, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I tried uploading the image to Photobucket. Let's see if that works.

Oh that worked, that worked wonderfully.
That's an amazing piece of artwork Whatley!
Awesome entries this month! I'm going away for a while but I'm really looking forward to seeing all the artwork in this competition presented all together.
Sorry as not happy with last two. Here's final work;

Am just about to upload mine. It comes in two parts. Should I join them for it to count as one entry?
