A couple of weeks ago in the Yap Shop it came to light that many of us own gas masks or, as Commando Forces insist we call them on pain of pain, respirators.

Here's mine:

I used to have one but I gave it away.

I have a disarmed grenade though. Does that count?

I do have several military surplus and replica peaked caps (only one of which fits me), a Russian army pilotka (doesn't fit me), a felt replica budenovka, a Strontium Dog helmet and a fancy-dress white rabbit balaclava with a pair of regency spectacles sewn on. But I'm not weird like you gas mask freaks.

Ush I got mine from Jacobs Market if you're looking for one.

Don't go looking for Gas Masks on Ebay ... it's a scary thing to behold.

Ah yes, I was meaning to start such a thread. Problem is mine isn't that rubbery, more canvas with a rubber (ish) coating.

I handed mine in when I left and I was glad to see the back of it. Saying that I do remember playing volleyball in Saudi whilst wearing it, happy days!
