Reading the above, all of the crates of progs piled up in my garage now seem to be the easy option...... :)

It might not get posted until after the competition has finished. A large proportion of entries get posted in one dump after the winner has been announced.

I got my entry in for the last competition a month before the deadline and it didn't get posted pre the close. Similar in the first comp.

To be fair....the authors name on each fighting fantasy book is clearly shown on the inside cover, the front name was intended more as a "Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone present" sort of thing wasnt it?. Outside the first book, the only ones that they actually wrote (I think) were the ones that just had their individual names on. At least that was my understanding.

Oh right, didn't know that. Guess mine started with the same episode as Leigh.

There is a range of quality in there and I think that they just picked an unfortunate episode to start with as it really is something from the mind of a 1990's teenage boy.

I haven't seen them all yet but persevere, they do get better.

I don't really.......they are almost always bent and crumpled sadly. Maybe 1 in 10 that I get without damage.

So.....you're saying I shouldn't keep binning them then.....

Tricky thing to unload eh?

I'm thinking of stopping my sub and getting rid of my "modern" collection of 2000AD and Megazine ( both unbroken 20 year runs).

Not quite figured out the best way to do it yet either......

Sure you'll have some tough moments. The feeding in the middle of the night is not as bad as some make out. You get used to it and generally it doesn't last long. Toilet training was our biggest challenge. Took 3 months and nearly every night there was an episode but again you kind of get used to it.

Ha ha, both of my children were 7 before they slept through their first night.....and they overlapped. So, 10 years without an unbroken night! And sleep deprivation is TORTURE!

BUT

Being a parent pretty much is my reason for being so I certainly wouldn't change it. I'd do it again 😊

Thanks Sinx, glad you like it.
Sadly no, it didn't get posted prior to the comp ending. I would recommend that you check out the Facebook group for the competition as i think about 80 unseen entries got posted there all in one go after the winner was announced. Some really top notch work in there.
I'm guessing a lot of them will go unseen.

My thoughts are, surely professionals such as Evan can submit for this kind of work directly? Maybe I'm being naive.

I thought the competition was for amateur hopefuls not professional artists. Wouldn't this just be a professionals submission process then?

I was confused after the first competition closed, I'm more confused now, but I feel that on the evidence of the first two competitions that maybe the competition isn't for amateurs like myself, so I'll leave it to others going forward.

My Rogue entry for the latest competition. Cheers.

Congratulations to Evan, it's an absolutely fantastic picture and deserved the win.

Okay, regarding the competition......I am really confused by its purpose and imagine that I'm probably not the only one.

Would this be Evan Shipard, acclaimed long time professional movie concept artist for such films as Mad Max Fury Road and Alien Covenant?

Guess I had taken the competition as sort of an aspirational endeavour for amateurs to try and get published, but it does seem that your casual amateur entry might be fairly pointless when stacked up against industry veterans?

I think if you are taking entries from those in games development, films etc, it is such an overlap that it seems a little churlish to not let other artists who have done professional comic art in the past but maybe aren't currently working in the field have a go as well.

Anyway, not a complaint or a moan, just an observation and perhaps a request for some clarity as to who this is actually pitched at (assuming it's anyone who hasn't specifically worked as a comic artist?).

Machine Law is just stunning. Pages 3 & 4 are nearly up there with America for me. Script and art just completely at one. Those two pages alone are unreal and then there's the rest of the episode! Bombshells is right. Imagine this was 20 parts long. We can dream. Worth the price of me sub to get to read this on a Saturday when it hits the mat.

Alas, the price of my sub didn't make it hit the mat on Saturday.
