Those early prog covers are really interesting. They don't bear any relation to the stories inside, do they?

I was thinking that might have been due to this being the early days of the comic, when Mills & Co hadn't built up a reserve of material and had to print whatever was ready, but they were still at it by the time my own collection of back issues begins (127). I suppose if you've got someone like Bolland sending you covers like that you don't mind if it has nothing to do with Mach 1.

According to Brian Bolland in The Art of Brian Bolland the editors weren't sure which interior characters would sell the comic best by being on the cover so they got the likes of Brian to come up with cover ideas, draw them then the editors would write a one-page text story based on it to go inside.

HM  Simontm (the one with the depressed Zombie dude)

This makes literally no sense to me - Rogue or Dredd?

Ha think he means Marvin the paranoid trooper. Trust me the story will happen!  :D

Hmm, who to vote for 1) me 2) me  ;)

Seriously good stuff on here, made it very very difficult but...

1) Chris Askham - Zombie Dredd
2) Jon - 2000 AD All-Stars Tackle The Zombie Horde
3) Bern campbell - Judgement in Progress

Honourables: Stevontron - Hammerstein vs. Zombies

But seriously the HM's go to everyone although I can only pick 4  >:(

Quotewhich story is that sandman one from? I don't recognise it.
Looks like a commission, the fantastic Jeff Hawke.

Hi both. I picked it up at the Bristol Comicon charity auction but don't know whether it was done specifically for that.

It was scandalous really. I picked it up for £25 as it seemed that no-one else knew who Syd Jordan was. Picked up a Roy of the Rovers pencil sketch by Barry Mitchell for £5 for similar reasons.

Ha, the guy in the top right corner looks really depressed, Simon :-D, did he suddenly realise he's dead?

Ha, Marvin the Paranoid Trooper: "Life, don't talk to me about life..."
