A Terror Tube rollercoaster would be ace. Finish it at the Black Hole bypass.

There don't seem to be that many enclosed roller coasters for some reason. Combine a roller coaster with film projected would be superb.

As an alternative, if you loosened a couple of bolts on a Pirate Ship ride, you could have a Cloud Curragh before you knew it.

I'm quite surprised this hasn't been done more in genral. I know there's Universal Studios, but it would be great to have somewhere with reconstructions of famous sets.

The Death Star Hangar, Fortress of Solitude, the Space Jockey from Alien for example.

It always seems a shame they have to be destroyed.

It's also a little known fact that Dredd's party trick is impressions of characters from the A-Team.

His Templeton Peck is amazing, maybe he'll show it to us in Origins.

One thing that has bugged me about the villains in both of the last two series is the reliance on assimilation/absorption.

I hadn't noticed until the Love and Monsters episode.

Virtually all of them had this trait, they either wanted to impersonate their victims or make the victims like them.

Even the Daleks got in on the act, by turning far-future Jade Goodys into Daleks.

Even taking into account the Scooby-doo chase being more Elton's interpretation than what actually happened. I thought it was dreadful.

It seemed to concentrate the worst of RTD's scripts (especially Aliens of London/WWIII) into one episode.

I'm not against breaking the format, and I liked the idea of people obsessed with the Doctor, but I think that would have worked better in a completely different episode. Shame they killed off Mark Benton's character in 'Rose'

Can't wait for that, I've been holding back on any other Nemesis books.

Yep,

I'm not sure when in July it's going to appear.

It's showing up in the list of channels on my box, but it's just a placeholder at the moment.

I think the space is being used by one of the interactive streams for Big Brother, so that will get booted off and replaced by FF.

Cheers

There's a combination of two problems with Digital TV, reception which can lead to the picture freezing or partially updating, and shit picture quality on certain programmes.

On Freeview, the former is less of a problem since they've boosted the signal, but the latter you're at the mercy of the broadcasters.

It's a shame, since it could be a lot better if they weren't going the quantity over quality route.

The way it works is that a group of channels share the same space, so if another channel is added within that space, it would degrade the picture from the others.

It seems to have bottomed out though, any new channels that are being added are usually replacing unpopular ones.

Five are adding two channels, that they've acquired from Top-up TV, FilmFour starts in July replacing More4+1.

Still doesn't make the footy look any better though...

Cheers

I can entirely sympathise, althought it tends to be programmes that I ignore if there's an absolute flood of badgering by the channel.

Digital's a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. They make dubious claims of 'digital quality' which is the biggest load of meaningless horseshit ever.

Some of the channels look like crap because they're trying to squeeze too much in.

That said, I love my PVR. Record 2 progs at the same time while watching something you've recorded elsewhere. I rarely watch commercial TV live these days.

I don't really watch that many of the digital channels anyway, Sky Three for Deadwood and that's about it.

E4 can fuck off, I'd rather watch programmes without some moronic shit in the corner telling me that it's BRAND NEW or a SECOND CHANCE to see. I can barely tolerate a permanent channel logo.

Damn, you've got me at it now...

Although I can see the criticism. I think there's a bit of rose-tinted glasses going on here.

Just because it's digital doesn't mean it's going to be good or bad. I thought some of the painted artwork in 2000AD and the Meg, post-Horned God was dreadful.

I think the main factor is the colouring, it's much more of a double-act these days, which can work both ways.

I'd like to see Si Fraser given a story with a bit of tech in it.

I loved his lawmaster in this pic.

They've managed to top that effort already.

They're now also calling it a 'good PR move'

I'm waiting for the logo re-design and viral marketing campaign.

Film & TV / Battlestar Galactica S1 on Freeview
11 June, 2006, 12:30:09 AM
Heads up for anyone who hasn't seen this yet and has access to Freeview.

S1 starts on Sky Three on the 24th June at 8pm.

Unfortunately they're not showing the mini-series first.

Cheers
