General / Re: PSU as a PSI Div Replacement.....

Yeah, the thread got a bit hijacked and redirected to Cuba...

Well, there are two Wally Squad based stories with Low Life and the Simping Detective. It would be cool to have either of these explore their relationship with PSI Div or PSU a bit more.

I guess a lot of it depends on whether the particular writers want to pursue that. At the moment it seems that only Alan Grant is doing that much with PSI-Division (hard not to if you're writing Anderson).

General / PSU as a PSI Div Replacement
07 October, 2005, 08:34:31 PM
I have to say I think PSU was one of the best things to be added to Dredd in the past few years. It seems to have evolved as a more realistic replacement for PSI Div, which doesn't seem to be popular with writers because it can be a cop-out. Any idea if this was a conscious decision, or it just happened that way?

Having PSU seems like a more natural extension of Justice Dept than PSI Div. I'm not saying we should have "Roffman, PSU Division" as a standalone strip, but I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of it. Maybe a Meg equivalent of the Wire...

So, more PSU?

Cheers

I think you should have just the borders of the offending pages with a J-Notice slapped over the top of each one...

And speaking of McDonalds...

Prog / Re: Prog 1459 - Bite the Bullet!.....

The gravity on Luna-1 is 1/6 Earth's, hence the gravity boots (and hill), and the flying Lawmasters in the Dredd Luna 1 stories. (I guess the bike chase in Breathing Space wouldn't have been as dramatic with those)

I did really badly in physics at school, having a larger distance to fall to reach terminal velocity sounds right...

Her mother jumped off a tall building on the Moon, yes? How does that work with 1/6th gravity?

Terminal velocity on Earth is about 120mph, on the moon wouldn't it be 20mph, seems a bit of a crap suicide method?

Bah! I meant proper telly :)

My mate already has S2 on Region 1 DVD, just need to borrow it off him. I think it works better that way anyway, it's not exactly the sort of thing you can afford to skip an episode.

Carnivale's another one I want to see...

Cheers

I just borrowed S1 of the Wire off a mate, I couldn't believe that a channel over here hasn't picked it up. At the least The Shield made it onto C5...

I watched Blair being interviewed after this incident, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. A question came up that he didn't like or disagreed with the interviewer, and rather than argue the point he just dismissed it with "Whatever..."

This is supposed to be the leader of our country, not some disinterested teenager.

And Ian McCartney looks like a hobbit.

The funniest thing about the Marvel ad was the attractive young woman judiciously collecting them.

Not that it's for me to stereotype the kind of people who collect these, but...

It really makes me wish the TV series had gone ahead, just to see how a full SD costume could have looked.

Now, where is Der Happy Stick?

Yeah, I know they're public domain

(although he seemed to have run into problems with Fu Manchu, as he's just called the Devil Doctor in LOEG, and some vague copyright issues arose when the Invisible Man had to have a namechange for the movie)

They were still created by someone else though, and he doesn't give any credit to the creators at all (OK, most are obvious, but there are a ton of obscure characters in there)

There's also Albion

http://www.thealienonline.net/ao_030.asp?tid=1&scid=5&iid=2568

It just seems a bit hypocritical banging on about creators' rights, unless he's donating some profits from Albion to creators of these characters or their surviving family.

Seems so according to this link.

I think it's funny that he makes a big deal over this when he's been freely using other authors' creations in LOEG.
