New statues that are all carrying guns! If I have one regret about my MCBC appearance it's not calling out how Mike Dorey always has at least one panel where savage makes a crazy, "I'm gonna kill every Volg in this room" face.

I can just see Bill Savage coming up with this plan, "Right. I've got a great idea. We all strip down to our underpants, cover ourselves in mud, then sneak into Sandringham and then stand very still on a conveniently empty plinth until the Volgs walk past... then we blast 'em." I mean, how could it not succeed?

Currently reading the Invasion! podcast along with the TPB. Bill and the lads dressing up as statues in order to spring a surprise attack on the Volgs is one of the most ludicrously ingenious (and insane) schemes I have ever seen. Just how long were they standing like that? Why did none of the Volgs notice that a bunch of new statues had suddenly appeared out of nowhere? Amazing.

Zenith struck me as more Bros than Def Lepard.

In Zzzenith.com he was Robbie Williams, so today he'd be bumming round LA, waiting for fat Iok Sotot to take a break from judging X-Factor and get the old gang back together to squeeze one last pay day from the nostalgia circuit.

The nostalgia circuit sounds about right actually. Somewhere at the bottom of the bill at REWIND, behind Level 42, Billy Ocean and The Human League

Resemblance to a certain PR droid aside (as well as off-topic talk about creators' rights, old thrills being dusted off) I always get a kick out of seeing Zenith's fashion choices through the years - the brief appearance of his acid house/baggy look in Phase IV being a particular highlight. Is he an elder statesman of rock these days? Living it up with a leggy blonde half his age on some Caribbean island?

I'd much rather see new characters than classic ones given to new writers.

If you have what you think is a shit hot concept and characters you may be less inclined to give that to 2000ad than to seek another way of getting it out there which would give a better ownership deal especially when more and more it seems that comics are becoming the go-to ideas factory for TV and Film.

I find that kind of thinking to be the death knell of creativity. Writing "for the Trade" is bad enough but creating stories/characters specifically so that they can be adapted for TV/Movies at a later date is even worse. That's what killing Marvel Comics at the moment. It's no longer a publisher, merely the caretaker for an extensive IP farm.

Other Reviews / Re: Dredd: The Complete Case Files

I don't know if it's down to the fact that the tooth completely slipped off my radar around the turn of the century (right up until DREDD and the hype surrounding DoC brought me back into the fold) but it's the stuff post-CF30 that has me the most excited for the Case Files. It's all brand new territory for me.

Dirty Frank and Lenny to get an outing?

Love Lenny..one of the few to get one over on Joe

Lenny Zero is a very dated character, in my opinion.

Dirty Frank, on the other hand, would be brilliant.

Dirty Frank is definitely someone that I would like to see make an appearance at some point.

If the next pieces of concept art to be released have some of that Judge Dredd uniqueness then I'll be as happy as a pig in poop. Until then...
Like the Stallone version did? God, I hope not. It might be a very polarising thing on here, but for me, it has to retain a bit of actual real world semblance,

No, it doesn't. Not really. Start taking away the crazy architecture and it stops being Judge Dredd. It just  becomes yet another generic futuristic cityscape. Ezquerra's, McMahon's and Flint's MC1. With McNeil's colour scheme. That's the way to go.

What, even at night?

Honestly people are reading an awful lot into a couple of images.

I'm not reading into anything. Just voicing my reservations about the potential look of MC-1 based on these two images. And I understand, over the years different artists have put their own spin on the big meg, I just hope that we don't end up with the easiest (and dullest) one. I would hate it for this show to merely copy and paste Blade Runner's iconography when it already has it's own unique look. It's a deal-breaker in the sense that my interest is diminished by looking at something I can see replicated in a squillion straight-to-video HMV shelf warmers. You can't fault me in wanting to see something different. If the next pieces of concept art to be released have some of that Judge Dredd uniqueness then I'll be as happy as a pig in poop. Until then...

OK, it is just concept art but seems a bit too drab for me. I'd like a more vivid colourful vibrant MC1.
Could be just the drab part of the city. One scene I loved in the recent film was when Dredd and Anderson were outside the building looking out of the city at night. It looked brilliant with all the neon contrasted against the night sky.
I hope so. This type of thing could be a deal-breaker for me. The version of MC-1 that I have in my head is straight from Colin MacNeil's art for America and Mechanismo. Chiefly crystal clear blue skies and blazing sunshine resulting from the machinations of Weather Control and a perfect example of the excessive reach of the Justice Department. I don't want MC-1 in this show to be yet another gloomy cookie-cutter dystopia.

Good luck to them. As someone who still comes out in hives at the very thought of Millar's work on Judge Dredd and Robo-Hunter back in the early Nineties. Meh.

Incredibly crowded. I lasted about an hour of being "kettled" before I had to leave the venue. The highlight for me was the little kid dressed up as Deadpool from the Marvel comics/hit movie. He took the irreverence of the character to heart by basically giving cheek to everyone that he met.  :D As per usual I didn't bump into anyone from this parish but I hope that they all had a good time.

I see that the DUP are all big Black Lace fans, "Agadoo doo doo shake the magic money tree." So much for austerity being a necessary evil to bring public finances back under control. And we taxpayers are footing the bill for this blatant bit of bribery.

As well as £1bn to the DUP Northern Ireland, another £6bn on two new aircraft carriers.

Pork-barrel politics are icky regardless of who is doing it.
