Books & Comics / Moose Kid Comics
20 June, 2014, 09:36:54 PM
Nothing about this on here yet? Okay, I'll mention it...

Moose Kid Comics. A free, 36 page, all ages comic, developed by Jamie Smart and featuring work by loads of folk including that bloke who drew Sweeny Toddler, (drawing an evil baby), that bloke who writes Tank Girl, (writing a kid-friendly Tank Girl), and other stuff that's worth a gawp at. Very nice indeed.

I'm currently in the middle of putting together the latest edition of the Temple APA digital comic thing, (which is a showcase for writers and artists active in the UK comics scene), and I've come to the realization that there's a distinct lack of pages in this issue. It could definitely do with a bit more bulk.

So, has anybody got any random bits and pieces lying around that they'd like to contribute?

It can be finished art, old comic strips, unfinished art, sketches, previews of stuff yet to be published... anything even a bit arty or comicy, basically. The only additional thing required from you is an 'intro' page featuring your name and any other info you'd like to share, such as email address, website or whatever. This doesn't need to be anything fancy.

You can get a general idea of the kind of thing we're after by browsing through the previous Temples here...

http://issuu.com/templeapa

Email your stuff to  t e m p l e a p a @ o u t l o o k . c o m  (without the spaces, obviously)

Also, if anyone's got any artwork they'd think would look good on the cover, you can send that over as well. I could put something together myself, but I've done the covers for the previous 6 issues and think it's probably about time someone else's scribbles had a chance.

I want to get this out there reasonably quickly, so you only have until next week to contribute (Sunday 6th April).

It's Scream! comic's 30th birthday, so in tribute...

It's for the next issue of Hallowscream.

Small press comic, so not paid work. Written by John Owens. Black and white, A4 dimensions, deadline's October.

Contains Matthew Hopkins, three-headed dogs and demons and stuff in a 17th century setting, (kind of like Defoe).

You don't need to worry about lettering, (unless you fancy doing it yourself as well), 'cos we can get someone else to do that.

The story was originally intended to be in the first issue, and there were attempts to get it into subsequent issues, but we keep misplacing the artists, so the script's just been sitting there since 2006, but it's probably not cursed or anything.

Probably.

Either contact me on here or at merjeagles @ yahoo.co.uk if you're interested.

If you're getting a warning whenever you go anywhere near your reading list and you're subscribed to Scotch Corner, that seems to be what the problem is.

I've unsubscribed for the moment, (which obviously gets rid of the warning).

Someone should probably let one of the Scotch Corner bloggers know as well, (if they don't read about it here first).

Books & Comics / Egmont Classic Comics on iTunes
13 November, 2012, 03:56:26 PM
From the press release...

QuoteEgmont UK's Classic Comics imprint was created to re-publish the wealth of classic comics in their archive.

Four volumes of Roy the Rovers kicked off our e-comic publishing in June this year and now we are excited to announce the launch of further classics on popular comic series from the 70s and 80s.

A fifth Roy of the Rovers has been made available along with publications from Misty and The Thirteenth Floor.  From Battle Picture Weekly we will be publishing various strips including Johnny Red, Major Eazy and the ground- breaking Charley's War.  Some of the biggest names in British comics were involved in the creation of these stories, including Pat Mills and John Wagner.

David Riley, Managing Director of Egmont Publishing Group, said: "Roy, Battle, Misty...these are iconic magazines which still have a place in the national consciousness. They deserve to be brought back; their appeal also has the potential to transcend the generation gap and reach an entirely new, younger audience. With the limitless possibilities offered up by digital publishing, there has never been a better time to bring these comics to the fore."

More information here and some links to the comics here.

Apologies for my lateness in mentioning this. Had a lot going on and this year seems to be zipping by at a bit of a mental rate.

Deadline for the next issue is April 29th, (though you'll probably get away with being a bit late 'cos I probably will be).

Quick guidelines...

1 : It's for creators active in the British comics scene, (both amateur and professional), but you don't have to be in the UK to contribute.

2 : Writers are required to find their own artist to team up with and vice versa

3 : Already completed strips or pieces of artwork are welcome, (even if they've appeared elsewhere).

4 : Submissions can have a maximum of 20 pages.

5 : Image files should be a minimum of 1240 pixels wide at 150 dpi and can be in colour or black and white.

6 : An intro page is required telling people a bit about yourselves. You and any co-contributor can put this together or you can include a short paragraph along with your submission and we'll put something together for you.
