Just realized my previous two posts are in the wrong thread - I managed to mix up "Death By Climate" with "Death By Pandemic". Oops.

Interestingly, Dr John Cook, who normally works on the psychology of climate science denial, and the link to right-wing ideology, has been working flat-out the last few months applying his conspiracy theory formulas to 5G and COVID19 in a series of lectures and talks.

It's all linked!

It's all about short-termism, isn't it? No thinking about what's next, nor even investing in it. Frankly, I'm dumbfounded all of the big energy companies aren't making a shit-ton of solar panels to 'loan' out to individuals or other companies.

Absolutely - the solar panel industry is alive and kicking in the UK, despite the government removing the subsidies. It is currently far cheaper to create a kilowatt of energy from renewable  sources than any other source, particularly fossil.

It's old petro-baron/state money clinging desperately on to their estate is the problem.

An open letter to the #EU urging it to treat the Climate Crisis as an actual emergency, to prevent the worst impact of man-made global warming.

Signed by Greta Thunberg and Professor Michael E Mann amongst many other scientists, communicators, and others persons of repute in the field of climate science.

Blimey! Have you seen the New Zealand governments Climate Change Risk assessment?! See link!

It's a full-on analysis of how climate change will fuck up NZ unless measures are taken, a discussion of what those measures should be, and an enactment plan.

This is the kind of thing we should be seeing in governments around the world!

Professor Mann's free course, " Climate Change: The Science and Global Impact", is relaunching on Sept 1st, with a bunch of updated content!

If you're interested in getting a good grounding in climate science, and perhaps an inkling of hope for the future, I highly recommend this.

Eight weeks at maybe two or three hours of learning a week at a leisurely pace . You can do it at whatever speed suits you though - I blasted through it in about a month.

Roger Hallam and Extinction Rebellion feature in this 55 minute film. It's well worth a watch.

Although everything is discussed in calm, neutral terms it is strangely emotional and uplifting. A positive call for action.

Well, that sounds cheery.

Apologies - here's something much more upbeat.

Some bloody superb news from Carbon Brief !

Solar and wind is rivalling electricity generated by gas in the U.K., and could be half the cost of gas-fired by 2025!!!
