Help! / Invasion by Blasco
02 May, 2007, 11:58:42 PM
long time no post and all that, but...

i need help!!!

the first episode of invasion had a scene by jesus blasco that was cut out at the last minute [like pretty much everything else]. savage lets a volg escape, promising not to shoot him, then guns him down, saying "i lied".

pat mills chucked it into book one of savage as a flashback, but i'm sure blasco's version was published somewhere, in a book or a prog or something [but not thrillpower overload in the meg, i checked].

anyone got any ideas as to where this saw the light of day, if indeed it did?

thought i'd get working on my starlord site as i've been putting it off for sevenpennynightmare things for too long.

half of it is up and running, and i'm writing some more whenever i have a few moments.

anyway, i added issue 1 so people could look at very old strontium dog. look in the section called 'pages'

just saw paul darrow, who played avon in blake's 7, advertising a shop mobility cart on uk gold. how sad that he now motors around shopping malls in these electric carts instead of fighting the federation....

now if i reply that i haven't seen spaceballs, can i leave 'd' space?

perhaps i'll meet tom baker in 'e' space.....

back to the tardis, quickly k-9. there's rough terrain out there so we can't use you this week.

haha, i used to love that...k9 couldn't even get into the tardis cos there was a small step to the door.

the tardis...shit disabled access...so davros could never get in it either.....

i know it's supposed to be funny, but looking at the bigotted and ultra right wing attitudes of those lampooned in the show is just funking scary....

it made me laugh out loud at times, particularly the photographs of him with his sister, but all i can say is......mississippi is a funked up place.

love the fact that the kazakstan anthem they play is really the music from tetris.....

General / butter or new stork SB?

butter...obviously.

do they still make stork?

i mean, apart from real storks. obviously they make stork, or they'd be extinct. unless they are extinct, in which case they don't.

anyway...butter.

General / it's a girl
08 August, 2004, 04:30:16 AM
hello boarders...i'm dog tired having spent the last day and a half sat in a hospital with my wife as they failed to induce our overdue baby, then noticed (some 9 months late i think!) that it was breech.

having spent the last few hours in surgery and having to put up with my overzealous professional interest at looking at her insides, (ahem!) we now have a lovely, perfectly formed and devilishly alert but mercifully very quiet (thanks to force feeding her johnson's no more tears shampoo) 7lb 4 oz baby girl called josie.

yee-hah!

seven years of waiting and disappointments, and we're finally there.

i'll stick some pics up later for you all to extract the mirth from.

Help! / thorny issues of copyright
02 August, 2004, 06:03:15 AM
i believe that when rebellion bought tooth, they bought the rights to the back catalogue of tooth characters...so if a story appeared in any old progs, the rights belonged to rebellion. fair enough, that's easy.

strontium dog is a tooth character, currently appearing. ro-busters spun into the abc warriors and nemesis, so is also current. timequake was revived in progs 148 to 151, and jim blocker appeared in armoured gideon (besides being a bit of a bill savage clone), so again, rebellion own the rights.

what about the other starlord characters and strips? starlord merged with tooth, but do rebellion own mind wars, holocaust or planet of the damned?

is the same deal true with tornado? blackhawk, wolfie smith...tooth. the rest of 'em?

there was all the hoo-ha over robot archie and lion characters a while back.

some starlord stories were originally planned for tooth and vice versa...so what goes on there??

doing a history of starlord is not as easy as i thought, hence the blank page

Website and Forum / starlord website...?
24 July, 2004, 10:03:08 PM
hail star troopers!

are there any decent starlord websites around?

i'm researching some starlord stuff for a future issue of accent uk's red eye, and once i've finished the action site, i might set my sites on a starlord one.

would anybody be interested in such a thing? any old star troopers out there still waiting for the invasion of the int.stell.fed.?

laser specialists, tank commanders, robot regiments, pilots, time wardens and skate board strike squads(!) stand by, and watch the stars!!!

Suggestions / Boarder Profiles
20 July, 2004, 06:01:08 AM
although i can already imagine the witty, sideways-on images of boarders that this thread title may start, i'd be interested to see what people look like, what they do, when they started reading tooth, how old, where they live, faves, hates, you know....all that old schtuff. anybody else think this is an idea to delight wake with on his return?

General / artists in the shadows of their rivals
17 July, 2004, 09:06:47 AM
just typing something about ron smith and how i never rated his dredd made me think about other artists i didn't like when compared to their 'other halves' on shared art chores. examples:

mcmahon/bolland on dredd: cursed earth
fabry/pugh on slaine
bisley/sms on abc warriors

i was so used to  mike mcmahon dredd, that i hated brian bolland's early work, but now appreciate it in all it's glory as brian is the absolute daddy.

david pugh's slaine was sooooooo poor compared with glenn fabry, i'd look forward to the fabry issues and almost dismiss the episodes in between. even now they look bad.

simon bisley drew the warriors with precision and detail, sms was all wobbly lines and bendy gun barrels and still looks like a page of plop.

i love garry leach's work normally, but preferred cam kennedy on the VCs

nemesis is all on its own for good v crud

any thoughts?
