Hi, as discussed in the "help" thread, I have the artwork from an episode of Caballistics Inc. by Dom Reardon to sell.  Some improved photo's shown below. Have listed them on eBay, but if you are interested please drop me a message and can always do a deal outside of eBay.

Help! / Caballistics artwork
05 January, 2017, 05:56:37 PM
Just wondered if anyone knew what the going rate is for Dom's artwork pages from Caballistics? I can't seem to find any examples on eBay.

I have a five page episode I wanted to sell and I'm not sure where a ballpark figure is for them.

Any advice appreciated!

Cheers.

Hi there,

Whilst looking at sites to buy 2000ad art I happened upon someone selling t-shirts and other items with prints of my pictures on them (amongst other stolen artwork)..........what's the best approach to dealing with this?

Creative Common / Printing a comic

Howdy folks,

When I finish off the art on a few more pages I want to have a 32 page comic professionally printed. Wondered if anyone out there had some solid advice on the best sites to use to print a comic?

Cheers!

Creative Common / Lettering a strip
03 May, 2016, 11:31:55 AM
Hi all,

I'm currently working on completing a comic strip that I started many years back with Paul Von Scott for Omnivistascope. I was due to complete a fourth installment of the story but life well and truly got in the way and sadly I never finished it.

I later reworked all of the existing artwork to update it and correct all the drawings that I didn't like the first time around but, due to deadlines, didn't have time to fix.

Well, I'm now about 85-90 percent through the last new pages, and I'm then thinking of compiling the whole thing into a stand alone comic (once I've had a chat with Paul to check he's still okay with it).

The next stage I need to consider is lettering the whole thing from scratch. Lettering really isn't my thing. First time around I lettered the strip using photoshop and it wasn't the best.

Does anyone have any advice on the most cost effective way of doing a decent lettering job. This is a one off comic and I don't have any intention of doing more lettering in the future so don't want to break the bank

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Simon.

Help! / Cam Kennedy artwork question
19 November, 2013, 04:18:13 PM
A quick question for those far more knowledgable than myself.

Below is a page from the rogue trooper story "milli-com memories" drawn by cam Kennedy.
Does anyone know whether cam lettered his own pages? I'm pretty sure that the story has a lettering credit for someone else entirely yet the lettering is drawn straight onto the artwork and inked around, not pasted on over the top as I would have expected. Does anyone else have pages from the story and are they lettered in the same way?

Any info or help appreciated!

Cheers

Just a bit of fun - done to keep me sane whilst studying for my last exam - thought you might like a look.

Hope it's readable.

Books & Comics / Strontium Dog Agency Files
30 January, 2007, 08:00:10 PM
Has this actually been released yet?

I read on one of the threads on Monday last week that someone had it, but despite several wanders to the comic shops in Liverpool last week I didn't see any sign of it.

Just wondered as Amazon are still listing it as 3-6 weeks delay.

Help! / Comic art help
27 May, 2006, 02:45:52 AM
Hello everyone,

A quick question for anyone in the know.

I'm looking for some specific original artwork and wondered if anyone knew anyone who might have any pages available from the following artists/stories;

1. City of the Damned - Steve Dillons pages (Wake, I did notice that you had one page of this still flagged as for sale on Comicartfans).
Actually, another question - does anybody know what happened to both versions of the pages that Steve had to draw twice? I assume they are privately owned now also.

2. Cry of the Werewolf (again I have seen a lot of pages - none for sale)

3. Strontium Dog - Pages from 'Incident on Mayjer Minor'.

Thanks
Simon.

Help! / Websites....
22 January, 2006, 02:38:27 PM
I was just wondering if anyone could provide any help or advice on hosting websites.

Basically, I'm going to put together a small website and was wondering if anyone could advise where to put it on the web......ie - are there any recommended free domains, or is it worth paying for space (and if so who with)....

As you can probably tell I'm a novice at this, so any help appreciated!

Help! / Displaying Artwork
30 September, 2005, 02:27:02 AM
There was a thread  a while back discussing displaying artwork (hence the title), not sure what it was called.

Can anyone recommend frames for pages of comic strip - and whether there is a recommended outlet for specialist frames suited to the purpose (I seem to remember mention of special glass to prevent damage from sunlight)?

Hello all.

Some questions/thoughts for the aspiring comic strip artists amongst us (of which I know there are many).

My ramble....
Having just received my latest (official 2000AD business) round of 'figures too stiff' criticisms, I have been reflecting on some of the irritating drawing ?habits? that I seem to have acquired in the last year or so.  My current approach is as follows....

1. Reference every character I draw to within an inch of its life.
This basically involves endlessly thumbing through a large pile of anatomy and figure drawing books to try and get my figures right.

2. Having finally sketched something, I scan it onto my PC, open it in Photoshop, edit it with a drawing tablet, reverse it, edit it some more, print it in reverse at the size I want it, trace it onto the actual page, then ink it.

3. Having done this for EVERY panel (sigh), I then scan the whole page back into the PC (in several parts as I don't yet own an A3 scanner), open it in
Photoshop, then edit everything again until I'm reasonably happy with it.

4. Letter it. Finished (unless I then decide to edit something else later - which almost always happens).

It used to take me a full day to do a completed page, now it can take me easily 3,4 or 5 times that long.

My questions.....
I wondered if any other artists out there (amateur and professional alike)have adopted a method/process similar to the above?
If so, do you find it a blessing - or a curse?
Is it necessary to do all this nowadays to try and produce anything remotely approaching professional quality?
Does it all provide too big a safety net?
Do you think it takes a lot of the skill (and most of the fun) out of the whole process?

I guess I'm just curious to know if I?m alone in this.

Please feel free to tell me 'I just draw it straight onto the page'. I can take it.

Maybe I can't, I?ll let you know.

Regards
Simon.
