Just read Mega-City Noir and I'm blown away.  How good is it?  Let me count the ways...

1) Has there ever been as good an introduction to a new character/world?

2) The parody of pulp fiction narrative, so poorly handled in so many scripts, is absolutely spot-on.

3) Fraser's art actually moves to a whole new level.

4) It contains the line "I aint found a squeaky nose or novelty buttonhole that couldn't be rigged".

5) ...and the line "I got two friends in this world.  One's long and hard and makes your ears ring after every shot.  The other's my gun."

6) The plot's coherent, something that can't be said of the majority of 2000AD comedy strips.

7) Oooh, it's just funking perfect!

Thank God for strips that actually live up to their hype!

Mr C

It's brilliant, best opening in the meg I've ever seen since Missionary Man.

ARRISARRIS

...i loved it to, probably one of those series that needs fewer episodes, eg; to keep the quality as high as this first episode we really dont want to see to much of this character, otherwise it will suffer burn out, loved the pun on the Singing Detective, BRILLLLL...

Art

Best thing-thats-is-not-actually-a-reprint-or-text-article in the Meg!

Bolt-01

Simp Judges, been there, done that. :P

Not this well though. :(

Pete Wells

"Women, can't live with 'em, can't lobotomise them."

Heh!

Quirkafleeg

Yet another reason to hate the over-talented Spurrier Droid...

And there's bits of Frazer's art that is so good it makes me weep that I can't see what he does with Frankie for ages yet....
