Firstly, I wanted to say a massive florix grabundae to everyone who has bought comics from me - you're all ghafflebette you lovely squaxx!

I thought this update deserved a new topic as this really is the last few bits of my collection now.

So then, (hopefully) some final price changes. I've actually only added a few more non-thrill-powered comics, just in case anyone was interested... if anything appeals, I am open to fair offers.

I feel like I am aging pretty rapidly right now, so if any of you felt like taking pity on me, I might be able to afford this month's Stookie hit to keep me feeling this side of 50.

Alternatively, postage at cost + fees. As I said, I am very much open to offers or a deal, that will mostly be the case if you're interested in taking the last run/s of my progs and/or megs!

I'm also open to swaps for collected editions (America, Nemesis, Strontium Dog maybe?) or the long shot is LEGO, happy to swap for LEGO as long as it's in reasonable condition (depends a little bit on what you have too though).

Cheers,

I have 99% decided to part with my 2000ad collection. It's just about complete up to about April 2017. I just don't have the space to keep it anymore. It's pretty much all packed into heavy duty 35L Really Useful Boxes. A good chunk of the first 1000 are bagged iirc. Possibly more.
Progs 1-2028 (none missing) and prog 3 has the free gift, and most of the later progs have their gifts too - I think I'm missing a 30 year old hubba bubba though 😉.
Megs Vol 1, 2, 3, 4, current run up to 383 (none missing)
All the Annuals & yearbooks
Many of the reprint monthlies up to the early 90s
Most Sci-Fi & winter specials etc. inc. '77, '78, '79.
Crisis 1-25, Diceman 1-5
Ideally I'd like it to go to a good home and be kept together. I've looked on ebay and can see the best way to sell would be in chunks, initially I'm reluctant to do that if I can find the right buyer and agree a reasonable price for it... condition is mostly pretty good to very good even many of the early bog paper ones were ok last time I looked - I'd like to think I've looked after them well.
Was hoping for circa £4000-£5000.
It's up in my loft currently and is hernia inducing to move for photos... with lockdown lifting I wondered whether now might be a good time to try selling it as a whole, buyer to collect (you'll need a van).
I'm in Cambridge fwiw. Happy to listen to sense and/or other offers if I'm out to lunch on this. I'd appreciate any thoughts whatsoever actually.

Classifieds / Judge Dredd Bolland Poster for sale
06 December, 2017, 04:06:26 PM
Hi All,
I haven't been here in a while. So sorry if this seems a bit mercenary.
I've got a copy of the huge and very rare Brian Bolland Judge Dredd poster from the 80s. It's about 5' tall.

If I've remembered right, it was only available in the old Forbidden Planet in Denmark St.
I have an eBay listing here. I'm asking £200 as that's what a couple of these have sold for recently but I'd do a deal here if any of you real fans want it. Please do read the listing for condition.

So Lego have this new-ish thing going where you submit product ideas to them. I built an Iron Giant a long time ago and was recently encouraged to submit it to CUUSOO.

Please support if you feel so inclined. Please also share with your friends... again, if you feel so inclined.
Thanks in advance!

Events / CamCon 2012 (Cambridge)
09 May, 2012, 03:42:21 PM
Short notice I know, but this weekend is (also) CamCon. I doubt many from this forum will able to come (what with Bristol being this weekend also), but I thought it worth mentioning that Sean Phillips and Leigh Gallagher will both be there sketching... (as *ahem* will I, sharing a table with Leigh!).

It's being held at the popular Cambridge venue The Junction on Saturday 12th May...

Howdy folks,

I've got a couple of these I'd like to sell. £100, postage included. I'm trying here, mainly because I can't be bothered with the hassle of ebay at the moment (plus all the fees)... I also want to avoid the postage costs rising at the end of the month.

A while ago, Argos had one of those 3 for 2 deals on and I asked my lovely lady if I could have this for my birthday... I recall someone else doing a similar deal last year, and like them, I'm only after covering the costs of the spare ones, and hopefully offering a reasonable discount to anyone else wanting the set.

I'm in Cambridge if it was convenient and anyone wanted to pick one up to save £9 on postage, please PM me if interested.

Classifieds / Kev Levell - original art sale
07 April, 2012, 03:22:19 PM
I'm selling some original inks...

I'm trying to raise some funds and so I've dropped my usual prices.

a higher res version is available on my blog too... anyone interested can PM me here or e-mail me via the address found on my blog.

There may be another couple of pieces coming up for sale, but if you're dredging my blog before then and you turn up something you like the look of, I will consider selling anything I've not already parted with...

Prog / Prog 1715 - Shakara Rises
29 December, 2010, 11:51:01 AM
WOW! This just dropped through the door! Lovely painted Shakara cover by Clint Langley (as already seen in prog 2011).

Tharg mentions two new series in the offing Angel Zero and Brass Sun, but no details on when, or the creative teams behind them.

Dredd is by Mike Carroll (huzzahs and congrats!) and it's got some great, classic looking art by David Roach!

Otherwise the expected continuing stories from prog 2011 all look lovely - but because I'm still half-way through 2011 I won't be delving much deeper than that for now!

General / "new" avatar/icons up for grabs
13 December, 2010, 04:23:06 PM
I was going to post these in the advent calendar thread on the 24th, but it's looking like I won't be around to post them...

There should be twelve individual files to 'right click', if they look familiar it's because they're the ones I did for the twitter spoof in the last art comp.

Please feel free to use any of them as your avatar should you wish to (either here or on any other forum that will allow 128px x 128px avatars), I'll continue to host these on my flickr account permanently, so don't worry about them suddenly disappearing.

Just so that no-one doubles up though, please post a reply below to 'bagsy' the one you want.

Classifieds / Wanted: Y the Last Man
20 November, 2010, 08:52:34 AM
Howdy all,
I've got the first two collected volumes (from the paperbacks versions) of this and am now so engaged in the story that I KNOW I'll want all the other volumes... I can't afford them though... most of the ten volume set are available at £5 or thereabouts and the bumper hardbacks are way more...

Anyone got them, not want them anymore and fancy doing a trade with me?

I've got a few GNs I could list as swaps, or I could do a nice sketch/illustration/commission in return for each volume or something (if that's not too cheeky).

General / CAN YOU BE AN AMBASSADOR FOR 2000AD?
08 October, 2010, 10:11:45 AM
Can you actually help to build positive awareness of the brand? Can you be a reasoned, level headed and articulate individual who simply advocates the good things about the galaxy's greatest comic, The Meg and it's associated merchandise?

Look at the efforts of CF, the ECBTT guys, FutureQuake, The Legendary Shark, Wake and Pete Wells for ingenious forms of promotion.

Ask yourself what you've done for the comic you claim to love so much.

In fact, as a fan of 2000ad your primary goal should be to do whatever you can to be supportive - even if that only means simply buying the comic each week and not denigrating it.

In the www, in meat space and within the confines of this forum, it should be the aim of everyone to show what is so cool about 2000ad.

Creative Common / Google SketchUp
23 September, 2010, 09:16:03 AM
Earlier in the year, after being told numerous times that SketchUp was an immensely useful tool, I decided to spend some time getting to grips with it.
It is a very easy, intuitive program to use and is FREE to download!

I won't go into details, but, I've built (still work in progress actually) some MC-1 roadways and vehicles for a strip I'm doing for Zarjaz.

huge 6317 x3342px zoom-able version

I also built a lawmaster a while ago... rookie mistakes have been including too much detail, because these are only intended as under-lays to work over in ink.

fly-around video

The other massive, advantage is there is a whole 3D warehouse where you can download useful reference models that other people have built.

The value of the ability to move around a model and frame shots really can't be underestimated. I recently did a DPS for Murky Depths and built a very simple church and graveyard and used it to try out more dramatic compositions...

In short, I'd recommend this as a simple, quick and effective way to take the labour out of tricky perspectives, certainly for things you need to draw multiple times from lots of different angles...
To use the exported jpegs effectively as underlays you need to export at a fairly high resolution which can take time, and then also fiddle a bit in photoshop too before you really have the under-lay you need, but I still think it's still slightly quicker than constructing it with traditional perspective drawing techniques.

I'd be interested to see other people's screen grabs, should they decide to get to grips with SketchUp, hopefully, this thread would be a nice place to do that.

Classifieds / An Inky Anderson for Sale
10 September, 2010, 09:20:35 PM
Howdy folks. Experiment time.

I could do with earning some money from this comic art lark and to that end I've just done this Illustration of Judge Anderson. Details of it are on my blog also, it's A3, inked on paper and I'd like to sell it for £50...

Any takers?
