So; it's a mere 4 weeks away, and I'm busily trying to clear the decks of any other games currently in play (Darksiders 2, will you ever end?) to ensure all available gaming / real life time will be furrowed into this.

From what I've seen so far, I'm excited. Predictably so.
The announcement yesterday regarding an online mode akin to 'Red Dead Redemption' is the icing on the cake.
Nothing warrants your devotion like those first few days playing a new GTA- lookin forward to cappin somma you fools in the near future!

Professor Bear

I took sick days to play San Andreas, but never even finished the dull GTA4.  Saints Row 4 is out next week, though.  WOOHOO!

Goaty

I playing San Andreas on my work MAC laptop at my lunchtime at many weeks... beat me that!

This game looks absolutely incredible, but there's simply no way ill have time to play it, especially during the next few months which are likely to be mental...

San Andreas got a bad rep i think it's an awesome game i still play it on the PS2 and PC i wish it had been online with lots of players on the same server.
loveforstitch - Does he fall in love? I like a little romance in all my movies.

Rekaert - Yes, he demonstrates it with bullets, punches and sentencing.

He's Mega City 1's own Don Juan.

San Andreas never really clicked with me, I think it was the whole gang culture thing that I just find a bit stupid.

I love the series though but I never seem to complete any of them, there is almost too much to do and too many opportunities to just arse around instead of getting on with the game  :).

I hope they do a better job of the PC version this time around, I ended up getting the last on on the PS3 because of how shoddy the PC version of 4 was.

...because I hate you.

One of the achievements is for collecting spaceship parts. Must change my PSN tag to 'Fox Mulder'!  :D

GrudgeJohnDeed

the online mode sounds absolutely crackers, really looking forward to this.

Played them all to death.  Love the basic premise of the game.  Be a feckin' hooligan!  Online? Not sure if I'll dig it or not, but I'll certainly give it a whirl.
I don't have a drinking problem.  I drink, I get drunk, I fall over.  No problem!

Due to the fact actual shops are a bit thin on the ground, I'm gonna pre-order this online.
Anyone spot a good deal?

Pete Wells

Cheapest I've seen is £35 at Greenmans Games. You can trade 2 games at Shopto and get it for a fiver - this offer includes some fairly old/shit games too...

JamesC

I've never really played Grand Theft Auto. All the stuff about shooting prostitutes etc really put me off.
I haven't actually been a big fan of Rockstar's output in general - the horse riding mechanic in Red Dead ruined the game for me and I thought Max Payne 3 was as dull as ditch water.
GTA 5 does look interesting though and I'm sure it'll be a massive technical achievement. I may try to get it on rental somewhere to see if I like it.

Must be sold out Pete, can't see it.

I'm looking for a PS3 copy which generally seems to be a little bit pricier that the 360 version.
Amazon or Play.com might be the safest bet to ensure I get a copy ASAP.
Gruddamn 60 Euro...

I'm in the minority, but I thought GTAIV was the best of the bunch so far. Where others criticised it for being 'boring', I saw an attempt at making a slightly more realistic, more weighty, more grounded - and as a result, more immersive game. The crazier, overpowered, jetpacks and rocket launchers, instant gratification side of the GTA games - something Saints Row now specialises in - to me gets very boring after half an hour or so. The game is much more interesting to me when it is more restrained in scope. In GTAIV I got a lot of enjoyment out of simply driving around the city, taking in the sights.
