With every tournament we have winners and the ones that could have. Rebellion certainly gave us a lot of great thrills the past 20 years. Up to 62 thrills got votes but we can only have one that takes the number 1 position. Throughout the tourney we had two thrills that was neck on neck so here we have it:

In second place we have:

BRINK

and first prize goes to:

NIKOLAI DANTE

When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Old age is the Lord's way of telling us to step aside for something new. Death's in case we didn't take the hint.

Next we have a list of the writers the total points and the number of the rills that received votes.  Just to point out the for example we have a thrill like Durham Red that was written by both Alan Grant and Alec Worley the points credit was give to Alan Grant as he has written the bulk of the thrill. So yes this might not reflect the picture 100% but it gives you a good indication.

Button Man being so high up surprises me; otherwise, that's a pretty solid top ten.

It might be that some people voted historically and not based upon the series that was publish during the Rebellion time

I've been waiting for the chance to commet on this fully but work has been a bit crazy today and I think I'll just go for a whitter now and try for more later.

Firstly thanks so much for running this Broodblik its been fun and the results are fascintating. My quick take homes:

1. Yah me I got the top three in the right order
2. Interesting that Dan Abnett's record here is so far ahead and in some way endorses his recent crowning - though later votes will tell us more I'm sure
3. The spread of thrills that got votes just emphasize the diversity of 2000ad fans, one of my favourite things
4. YAH Dante
5. Actually does 1 just mean I'm a bit dull and predictable?

broodblik

There is a nice variety in the top ten and I was surprised by the total thrills that got votes. The main thing that really stood out was that the old hands did not get so many votes. I think we will see a major shift when the Galaxy's Greatest tourney is done and dusted.

A really strong top 20, I have to say. Interesting to see how close it was between Dante and Brink!

There's quite a lot of diversity in the voting, which on reflection has got to be a good thing for an anthology!

Many thanks for running this, good stuff!

After the meg tourney I will start the Galaxy's Greatest and then we can draw a line between the first 40 plus years versus the Rebellion years.

Great, thanks for running the comp and presenting the winners and numbers.

I'm ashamed to say I've never read Dante...I've only heard good things about it, but there is no nice/accessible collected edition (that I'm aware of) to read. It's on my list, I'll need to track the trades down (I mostly do not read digital, only paper for me!)

Do yourself a favor and read it. It is an amazing peace of work buy some real great talents. Simon Fraser and John Burns artwork worked in tandem to bring us this mega epic

If you can track them down the Hatchette collections are great - thouhg not sure which are readily available. The fact that I've double dipped and bought these is testament to how wonderful the series is.

?

8 of the 11 volumes Are available in print in the 2000ad shop and that includes the repackaged 1-3
4 & 5 are two of the unavailable but they're next in line for the new spruced up editions.

If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

Aye.  Though I have to say I didn't like it for a long time - It took until the buildup to the
war
till I really got into it.  One of the major changes for me, even though for most it was probably unnoticeable, was that Robbie Morrison stopped using so much bold print - I really, really hate when the wrong word in a speech bubble is stressed, or when a sentence is deemed by the writer to be so cool the whole thing needs to be in bold.

I know, I know, I'm the worst kind of pedant.  But I have to say my view of Dante changed very quickly when Robbie disabled the Bold option on Word.
