Ah jeez, that's absolutely awful :(

I've had his original artwork to prog 937 hanging at the top of my stairs for years, was actually super special to me as an aunt who passed away bought me the comic years ago and kicked off my love for 2000AD.

Thoughts and love to his family and friends.

I remember you had that page alright, I think you offered it to me at one point many moons ago :) couldn't say no when I saw it pop up for sale again.

I was in touch with that guy on ebay alright, seemed almost too good to be true. Had bit of a chat with him, said his granddad once gave John's parents a loan and to say thanks, they gave him 30 pieces of his artwork!

I tried for a while to get him to sell me three lovely Nemesis pages but he was convinced ebay was the way to go. Someone had him convinced the lot was worth 30-40k. Haven't seen them pop up after those recent Dredd pages he had listed unfortunately.

Must get in contact with him again to see if he's changed his mind. I don't know if you saw his other pages (he sent me on a load of scans) but there was a dream page from towards the end of the Two Torquemadas which I'd just assumed had been lost to time - really is amazing when something like that just turns up out of the blue.

Jaysus Skullmo, you really do consistently knock it out of the park, they're some amazing pages.

Haven't bought any art in ages up until recently, managed to nab a couple more Hicklenton Nemesis pages.

As with John's work, a few extreme closeups are required so you can actually see some of that insane detail missing in the progs

And a gratuitous group shot :D

A possibility for future reference is to get hold of a product like Acrylite OP-3 for framing artwork. It's a kind of clear perspex that reduces UV 98% and should mitigate sun-bleaching to a decent degree.

And on top of that, be extremely selective where you hang artwork. I keep everything I have in the hallway, makes for a nice little gallery and no sun gets to them at all.

I stopped buying the prog a couple of years ago myself, had been reading it every week since 1995. A few missed weeks turned into a few missed months and before I knew it, it had fallen off my radar.

Had a leaf through a copy recently and really regret it now as I've completely missed Deadworld, looked really excellent.

Problem now is that if I want to start collecting it again, the competionist in me will need to hunt for all my missed progs in the last two years. :D

Felt marker fades unfortunately, it looks like that's what has happened here. I've a bit of this across some of my John Hicklenton pages.

Can really see it in this one;

seeing the sketch signed 'Brett Ewins 2014' was incredibly heartening...

Ah Jesus, that actually brought a tear to my eye.  :(

So long Brett, your art was seriously such an important part of my childhood. And well, my adulthood too.

I don't remember Paul Staples doing Slaine at all, that's a lovely page. His style really suits the strip.

You've just reminded me how much I miss Finn though! I can't say I've ever seen any of his Finn art for sale.

Great comission Bolt-01! I wouldn't have known that was by Dobbyn at all. He's certainly evolved his style since his 2000AD days.

And if you have ever seen his original art (and i suggest you all buy a page - contact Wake - they are surprisingly affordable works of art) the pages are so detailed for their size!

I only have this one piece (And I've posted it before, so apologies to anyone who has seen it!) but it's one of my favourite pieces of art. It's not the best photo, but the flesh rendering/versus metal/material is so subtle yet so striking. He's absolutely brilliant. By far my favourite 'modern' 2000AD artist working at the moment.

I know a lot of folks have tried the classic 2000AD artowork style to some success, but he really nails it.
