It's proving a bit of a pain to find a copy. Does anyone have one they would be willing to sell?

General / Has Dredd: Dust #1 been released yet?
27 April, 2016, 05:05:43 PM
As the topic says, I've seen some copies on eBay with jacked up prices and the 2000AD store has it for sale but the majority of comic sites don't seem to have any available. To add to the confusion diamond has the first issue down for release on the 11th May......

Has issue 1 officially been released yet or have a few early issues just slipped through the release date?  :-\

Events / Thought Bubble 2015, Leeds, 14th - 15th Nov
27 February, 2015, 01:07:45 PM
The first wave of Thought Bubble guests for this year have been announced:

http://thoughtbubblefestival.com/guests/

I don't recognise any 2000AD droids yet but the prog always has a strong presence over the festival weekend so I would expect some to be announced eventually.
For my money this is the best convention in the country and I can't wait for it already. Anybody else planning on going this year?

Games / Need some help with Far Cry 4 on the PS3
01 February, 2015, 12:48:53 PM
Anyone fancy giving me a hand getting a co-op trophy on Far Cry 4? I need the 'Changing Lanes' one which requires a vehicle take down from the passenger seat.
So I need someone to drive the vehicle alongside enemy vehicle whist I do this. I'll help you out with any co-op trophies you need as well. My PSN is dodsy.

Any takers?

I've been slowly collecting the Dredd Case File (I'm up to #7 now) but I'm not sure if it's worth abandoning them and starting afresh with the Mega Collection.
They both have their appeals:

The Case Files is obviously EVERY Prog/ Meg story in order but ignoring the spin-off's, etc. Whilst the Mega Collection is touching all aspects of Dredds world and whilst not in order it appears as though each collection will include all the stories you need about that particular period (if the first volume is anything to go by).
The Case Files won't miss anything (one off's or short stories) whilst the Mega Collection might if it's only focusing on the epics (obviously we don't know what they plan to re-print at this stage) but will touch on other stories/ characters the Case Files won't.
The Mega Collection definitely has the better designed covers, these Black/ White and Red look really smart.
So what do my fellow boarders think? Case Files or Mega Collection?

(and before anyone suggests it, I can't afford both lol).

I know I haven't imagined these but I can't find any information anywhere else. I think it was my local paper (The Evening Gazette) used to run a daily Dredd strip, usually about 3 – 4 panels (like a traditional daily strip) that would tell a longer story over a couple of weeks, I know for definite there was a Dark Judge one. I know I haven't imagined them because my Granddad used to cut them out and keep them for me.

However I don't recall ever seeing these being re-printed and I can't find anything online, all I can find is information on either Daily Star Dredd or Metro Dredd.

This will have been around the time of the Stallone movie so 95/96. Does anyone have any information on these? Where they ever re-printed?

Prog / Prog 519 – I need spoilers!
13 May, 2014, 12:05:59 PM
I was recently given a big collection of back progs ranging from around 350 – 950 (amongst other specials, etc) and am currently working my way through the lot. I just read 518 yesterday and found that 519 is missing. Normally I wouldn't be to bothered and just continue the mega read not to bothered that I had missed a small section of the stories, especially as I was warned there would be a couple of gaps in the collection here and there.

However, 519 is what I would call a 'jumping off point' were all of the current stories end and new ones begin the next Prog (Prog 520 was classed as the 10th anniversary Prog.). This means I've no idea how that current batch of stories end...  :o

Would someone be able to give me a brief idea of how Slaine: The King, The Dead and the first Bad Company stories end please? What's in Kano's box!?

General / A couple of questions before I go digital
19 March, 2014, 12:05:48 PM
It's finally happened, after reading 2000AD for 18 years none stop I've totally ran out of space to store my progs and the only way to continue with my weekly dose of thrill-power (other than kick the wife and all of her stuff out, something I have considered ) is to make the switch to digital. And with next week's prog being a new jumping on point now seems like the perfect time.

I've a couple of questions for those of you that have made the plunge though:
I'm thinking of buying through the 2000AD app on my iPad, this is where I plan to read my prog most weeks but would this link to my account on the 2000AD store for the off chance I can't read the prog on my iPad? I'm basically wondering if it's a universal account that all my digital purchases are linked to or is it split between devices/ accounts? Kind of future-proofing myself for if I ever decide to switch tablet devices.

If I buy straight from the store what's the best method of getting the prog on my iPad? I know you can't just download .pdf's straight to the iPad (or if you can I haven't figured out how) so what's the best way to do it?

Lastly; how about billing? Obviously if I buy off the store I'll get billed straight away like normal but how about through the app? Will the payment come straight out of my account like off the store or would it be included in my monthly apple bill?

Cheers for the help folks  :)

Film & TV / Preacher TV show given the go ahead by AMC
06 February, 2014, 10:03:47 PM
From Newsarama:
QuoteAMC's The Walking Dead is about to be joined by another comic colleague, with a bit of hellfire to it: Preacher.

AMC and Sony TV have formally announced that they have greenlit an adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic series Preacher by executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Rogen and Goldberg, who penned 2013 film This Is The End, will serve as executive producers of the television series and pen the pilot episode. AMC have hired Breaking Bad writer/producer Sam Catlin to serve as showrunner.

Published by DC/Vertigo from 1995 to 2000, the comic series Preacher dwelled on bitter Texas preacher named Jesse Custer who'd given up on his faith but ends up being pulled into a religious mission to find God, who abandoned his post in Heaven. Working alongside an infectious ex-girlfriend and an Irish vampire, Custer criss-crosses the country in a literal attempt at finding god while avoiding others on similar missions and Custer's self-proclaimed "redneck" family.

"Steve Dillon and I are very happy to see Preacher being developed for TV, which seems a much more natural home for the story than a 2-hour movie," Ennis said in a press release. "Obviously it's taken a while, but Ken Levin along with Neal Moritz and his team refused to give up, long after the point when I myself grew skeptical, and their unrelenting enthusiasm for the project has gotten us where we need to be. I'm particularly impressed that Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin understand Preacher fully — meaning they get it for what it is, not some vague approximation."

Ennis did assure fans that he and Dillon have been involved with the development of the series.

Preacher has been one of the most frequently discussed comic book series for possible television and movie adaptations in modern comics history. Everyone from Kevin Smith to Sam Mendes had been slotted in the directors chair of a possible movie adaptation, as well as HBO announcing in 2008 it was to do a television adaptation with Daredevil director Mark Steven Johnson at the helm. In November 2013, rumors spread that AMC was lining up a Preacher television with Rogen and Goldberg attached but the network did not confirm those until today.

God I hope it finally happens this time. This is probably my favourite series of all time.

Thinking of taking the plung and getting a digital subscription.
This might be a dumb question but progs do you get with a 3 month subscription? I'm guessing 12 (3 months, 4 weeks in a month) but can't actually find conformation of this anywhere.

Cheers to anyone who can confirm anything  :)

Creative Common / Trying my hand at lettering
02 January, 2014, 12:57:50 PM
I fancy having a go at trying some lettering. Can anyone recommend any cheap (or free!) packages or apps that I could try out? I've a Windows laptop but would prefer to do it on my ipad if possible.

How about some of you seasoned letterers, any tips or hints/ Does and Don'ts for a newbie who is planning on dipping his toe in the water?

Cheers for any help  :D

-

I appreciate there is a (kind of) lettering topic stickyed but that appears to be for only one program and the link for  'General Lettering discussion' in the Tutorials and Tips Meagthread only takes me to the 2000AD store. Also, neither seem to get much attention so I figured it wouldn't hurt to start a new thread.

General / Question about buying digital off the store
24 December, 2013, 04:06:38 PM
Planning on taking advantage of todays cheap thrill but not sure how the whole digital download/ drm thing works. Do I just click the download .pdf and then is it mine to share across all of my devices?
Can I download if as many times as I like from the store or is it a one time only deal?
Cheers for the help  :)

That's what reports are saying and he's confirmed it on Twitter himself that he's working with Gainmen and used the hastag Prelude.

Interesting choices. I'll be keeping a close eye on this to see what becomes of it. Personally I'd have prefered to see a HBO style TV show but not going to complain without having seen absolutly nothing of the product yet.

Classifieds / WANTED: Durham Red: Empty Suns
08 November, 2013, 12:40:29 PM
I have a feeling this could turn into another 'courtship of Jena Makarov' but can't hurt to try my luck.

I've had the first Volume of Durham Red for ages and in the current 2000AD store sale grabbed the 2nd one. Now I just need the last part, Empty Suns.
Does anyone know anywhere that currently has a copy for sale or is anyone looking to sell? I've had a quick browse around but no luck  :(

Cheers for any help.
