Depends whether you hate yourself, really.

QuoteIt's going for what to me looks like silly money at the moment:
There's probably a reason for that.

If you want to go Android, get a Samsung. BlackBerry's dead in the water.

Enjoy. On sketching, I know a few people who swear by the AluPen, and the Wacom one you mention is popular (although I didn't know about the nib issue). Try using your finger first though—you'll feel about five when you start, but if it clicks, you'll quite possibly find you've more control rather than less. (After all, one major reason we use pointers that abstract things is because ink doesn't flow out of our digits.)

If she's a real pinball aficionado, tell her the latest release has Twilight Zone as an in-app purchase. That should see her glued to the iPad for hours.

Books & Comics / Re: The Death of The Dandy

A friend of mine (with three young kids) just noted that the site's not even mobile-optimised, and yet the core audience will in part probably be the kind who's read it on a mobile device. It'll be interesting to hear what people here with kids end up finding out about how well this transition goes.

Free 'issue zero' of the new digital Dandy is now on their website... http://www.dandy.com/
On the basis of the Bananaman strip, I only hope this appeals to kids more than it did to me. The general experience reminds me of comic apps on the iPhone—that frame-by-frame thing that sucks the energy out of mainstream fare, let alone more frantic cartoon-oriented comics. Also, the site's performance was dreadful here (on a powerful iMac and also an iPad), as was the performance of the shoddily animated sections. I hope it'll improve, but it strikes me that once you plonk a kid in front of a screen, they'll have more interesting things to do than poke a horribly cut out arrow every few sections, to get another frame of a comic strip.

Hmm. I completely forgot about this after issue three, which shows how much it grabbed me. I guess I'll check out volume two, though, since I imagine my money's gone by now.

Well, there is that. I guess if you need the money and have no choice, selling the book makes sense. Otherwise, it's not one you're going to get back again at some point in the future.

Quite. I'll be amazed of Doomsday doesn't end up in the CFs in its entirety. (Also, I still think omitting America was a mis-step, but there you go.)

I think it's more that they drag them out of storage when there's no other choice, and as auxiliary droids with loads of firepower rather than machines with the ability to pass sentence. To that end, they're like human-shaped Lawmasters rather than metal Judges.

The missus has been playing the stomm out of Sony's AC/DC and Slayer pinball on her IPad.
She should check out Pinball Arcade!

For me, it depends on the trade. I'm always happy to read the notes at the back of Hellboy universe stuff, because Mignola and co. often provide some real insight into the ideas and the strips. Usagi Yojimbo also has good material, providing each of the covers of the episodes compiled within.

Excellent stuff. Almost feels like we're getting two end-of-year Progs this year.

Mm. I'm not expecting the price to be honoured, not least because Amazon's own terms talk about mispricing (which this was a clear case of):

"Pre-order Price Guarantee does not apply in the case of mispricing, described in our Pricing Policy, or to orders cancelled by us in accordance with the Conditions of Use & Sale."

Still, if the volume isn't high (that is, if tons of people didn't buy the book), Amazon might let it go.

Shinier, more colourful, easier to read, and almost as many pages. I don't pity the things at all!

Quote from: Jim_Campbell on 29 November, 2012, 11:17:15 AMAs much as I'm inclined to agree, Hershey has the unusual distinction of having left the Chief Judge's post alive once... twice seems disturbingly unlikely, given the historical record of the position...
Oh, don't get me wrong—I'm not saying they wouldn't off Hershey; I just hope they don't, because she's a great long-running character, and her ability to stand up to Dredd and make him understand the problems of the office have been really interesting. She'd be a big loss to the strip. Also, given the poor showing in general for women in a lot of media right now, it's good to have a strong women prominent in the strip.
