Small village with pretensions of being a town plus it was the early 70s.  Everyone knew everyone then and I wasn't in danger. I'd be more scared if it happened nowadays because the place really is a town now and we don't know everyone anymore....

heh.

I am mildly pleased because I have got the hyperlinks working in my yahoo e-mail again. I don't know how I did that but it was getting really annoying having to open in new tab all the time. Now it opens in the same window hurrah.

Hallo and welcome - hope you stay!

I've read accounts of the shock city kids had when they were evacuated during WW2. They had no idea where food came from.  Kids won't know unless they see it everyday.  I can't imagine that it's a sudden modern thing. Stupid Daily Fail. As usual.

My mum used to leave me in the pram outside the local co-op when shopping and forget I was there and go home. Cue phonecalls from people in the shop who'd got rather used to her doing this kind of thing. Baby brain much?

So are you sure it was your mum who came to collect you or was it just someone who wanted a better pram?
I'm happy to say I have photgraphic proof I was replaced in the same family home I came from. You can't fake those mad staring eyes... :)

Prog / Re: Prog 1670 - Beat the Meat!

Visually, this week's prog was fantastic.

Dredd - Beautiful lineart PJ and I loved the splash-pages (and that collander!) Such a good story too.

Sticklebrick - :) Very good this week - It wasn't just a fight but some intriguing dialogue.

ABC Warriors - Very handsome art (mostly) and bonkers storytelling. Is Baba's look 'inspired' by Octobriana then? She was cool. Could do without the way the human female was depicted - it was a just a gratuitous pin up shot and didn't seem to have any storytelling benefit. No expression in her face. If Langley was better at drawing women I would have said the flat expression was on purpose to show she had been love-bombed but the part of the body with the most attention to detail wasn't her face.

Ampney Crucis - I just love that and the weird colours.

Dante - Indeed it was heartbreaking this issue. He certainly has changed in the past 10 years. The lovely portrait of Jena's face crumpling into sadness was beautifully painted by Burns.

The Cover - I liked Langley's cover it was very striking. Could have done without the tagline though. My newsagent didn't approve and he hid the comic so that you could only see the mast-head. Also it made me feel a bit uncomfortable buying it and taking it back to work.

Best prog this year!

Listened to the Cult's Love album for the first time in ages this week. then listened to it several times more. I'd forgotten how much I loved it way back when.

Here's what I did in today's directorate meeting whilst the Director rehashed what was already in the Chief Executive's Bulletin...

Cover: Rather beautiful, like a chinese porcelain plate

Dredd: I love this - it's beautifully drawn and it's a fun story. The first panel made me sad though. :(

Stickleback: Just noise to me.

ABC: Enjoyably bonkers!

Ampney: I love this - it has atmosphere and is creepy as well as yucky. Beautiful art and a great story.

Dante: A bit boring - want something to happen now...
