okay, this is the last time I'll do this for ages. I promise not to start a line of threads entitled "the mouse won't work","my wallpaper looks funny', "which socket does the connector for the keyboard go" etc.
But some of you out there do know much more about computers than I do, and it was partly your recommendations that got me into using Firefox. Now my computer shop guy has installed 'Seamonkey' by the same people. It seems very good, futuristic and cool. Is it? Any suggestions as to how to use it?

yours wondering why there aren't free word processors the way there are free browsers

Haven't used Seamonkey but is it just Firefox + Thunderbird + some other bits for html editing?

Seems to be exactly that. Looks to be an attempt to put a bit of quality control on open source developers' work and release it all under one name.

And Floyd. Sorry if my advice was what ended up with you having to take your PC to the shop.

No worries The Cosh, it was some button I pushed along the way, not your advice.

I find it a little amusing that this bloke has replaced my browser without my asking and filled up the bookmarks with very computery 'mozilla development' sites

you should be careful when you take your PC to the shop.
