Prog / Re: prog 1831 : After Shocks!

Well, fair enough, then - if that's a common meaning in the US, I'll see if I can get something done for the trade.

Apologies for my lack of belief on the subject, but urbandictionary's much less of a trusted source than the good word of a 2000AD boarder, particularly in this case, and as BPP's guessed, this is the first I'm hearing of it. Also apologies if I came off as angry - I was, but very much at the creeps on Stormfront rather than anyone here. Thanks to BPP for pointing it out.

Sorry to be late to this particular pecking party, I only just got a look at the thread.

Here's the page I checked the etymology on - http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/goldbrick - and as you can see, there's not much about an anti-semitic definition there. But if this turns out to be more than some racist tosser on the internet trying to rewrite etymology to suit their own warped fantasies, I'll do what I can to change it in reprints.

To be honest, though, while I'm always willing to admit a mistake regarding language, I'm less keen on colluding with some far-right message-boarder's attempt to alter history. So frankly, I'm happier to accept the 'fake gold swindle + lieutenant's bar' explanation until stronger evidence than the masturbatory wish-dream of a nutter on Stormfront comes along.

Your mileage may vary.

Games / Re: Minecraft anyone?

That Zombo skin's gone on my Tumblr!

Used to play lots of Minecraft... built a giant skull castle at one point with a library and various rooms and all sorts... I think seeing the endgame kind of ruined it for me slightly, but it's been a while since then and there might come a point where I feel the old itch come back. I hear there's all new stuff now like pistons and computers.

Ta for the Zombo recap, Pete - from the sound of some of the feedback it's much needed! I've linked to it on Twitter and Tumblr in an effort to spread the word to prospective new readers.

Consider yourself the recipient of an unofficial  :sick:Krill Tro Zombo ! I'm sure Henry would agree.

Film & TV / Re: Dark Justice League film?

That list of characters is giving me an American Gothic vibe - that might make for a decent film. (Or it might not.)

Books & Comics / Re: Achewood

I love Achewood! It's one of my favourite webcomics, and it's a real shame it's become so irregular. Part of me now wonders if Cornelius and Beef are ever going to get out of that car.

Books & Comics / Re: Dandy on the brink?

I really hope 2000AD never becomes a 'national treasure'.

Colin Smith's glowing review of the modern Dandy: http://toobusythinkingboutcomics.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/on-dandy-readers-roulette-25.html

I hope the Dandy survives. But if it does die, it'll die proud.

Games / Re: Judge Dredd Gamebook: Countdown Sector 106

Finally finished it! Lots left incomplete, mind, so I'll likely pop back for a second go on one of the long train journeys I have to do next week. I ended up pumping all my Sector House time into Lawgiver skill, which left me constantly looking for reasons to shoot people...

I did end up doing a lot of sneaky re-rolling - jerking my phone about at the exact second the dice landed on a number I didn't want. You could only do that once, which was a nice touch.

Great stuff! Looking forward to the next one.

General / Re: What happened to Damnation Station?

It's plotted. I ended up getting very badly bogged down in other work (plus various crises) but it's on the list, and I'll probably get to it once I'm done with this new batch of Dredds I'm writing, which very much need to be done first. Hopefully it's still going ahead despite the long delay - I'm more than a little ashamed about how long it's taken, really, but I could say that about everything I do these days, including basic things like putting up shelves and getting out of bed.

The long break between serieses is written into the continuity (it takes a long time to build an Earth Station, never mind five of them), and I'll try and make sure new readers are brought up to speed as and when it comes back.

Next series will be the last series, though, so it'll be more like two halves with a very long intermission.

Sob! Left the house too late and missed everything.

I'm at Bristol next week, so if anyone wants to bring a copy for me to sign, don't be offended if I sit and read through the Dredd first.

(And also your copy of Dinosaurs vs Aliens.)

Oops, just spotted the second set of images. Managed to miss those completely.

Got to admit, I've been puzzling over these since they were released, and finding out what they relate to was still a very welcome surprise. I don't think three weird symbols constitutes a spoiler - although, for non-subscribers, this thread DEFINITELY does, so maybe a mod could pop 'WARNING SPOILERS' on the title?

Off Topic / Re: RIPs

I highly recommend watching The Seven-Per-Cent Solution if you get the chance. Nicol Williamson does one of the all-time great Sherlock Holmeses, and the rest of the cast are pretty excellent as well. He was certainly 'my' Holmes.

I'll just nip in briefly to confirm that the 'fear itself' gag really was a boring Roosevelt reference. (Although there are plenty of comics pisstakes in this series for eagle-eyed readers to spot.)
